Should I postpone family holiday

My other half has limited family in the UK and the closest relatives live abroad in Asia.

When my eldest we travelled to see them when my son was 4.5m and we had a great time, at the time he was sleeping really well and was generally an easy baby.

We have a 2 month old and have booked to do the same trip when she is 4.5m in November but I’m filled with dread and anxiety because she is a completely different baby and I’m worried how I will cope being stuck with my opinionated MIL and a baby who doesn’t sleep well.

For reference I’m already struggling with my daughter being the opposite to her brother and the timing of this is going to be around the time of the 4m sleep regression. Funnily enough my son was an awful sleeper until 4.5m but a few days before we travelled he started sleeping through. He was FF and able to send himself off to sleep with a dummy. Daughter refuses the dummy and is BF to sleep. Her sleep isn’t great either, she had reflux and is quite unsettled overall.

Im wondering whether I should postpone the trip to when my daughter is 6m old in the hope she will be sleeping better by then, as I am convinced the two won’t be the same.

I dont know if I’m being unreasonable and whether the lack of sleep is making me catastrophise things. There may also be a chance by 6m that her sleep won’t have improved…

if you feel that baby isnt old enough for the trip, postpone it indefinitely until they are. No point stressing over something that can easily be changed

There will never be an ideal time for both of them. A change of routine may even be a catalyst to better sleep.
