Lump in son’s abdomen?! Panicking

Sorry I’m posting here but hoping I’ll get more views/responses in this section as I’m really panicking right now.

My 5 year old son has been complaining about stomach pains for a couple of months now (hasn’t yet been seen by a GP) however it has been veryyyy on and off.

Today he’s complained of stomach pains again and I happened to notice, what looks like a lump in his abdomen? But I don’t know whether this is just the bottom of his ribs? However it doesn’t feel equal on the other side which makes me think it could potentially be a lump.

I do have quite bad anxiety when it comes to things like this and can’t tell if I’m being rational worrying about this or not.

I will ring the GP again tomorrow, but any thoughts? Am I just being ridiculous?

Lipoma?

cc99xo · 01/09/2025 19:17

Could be. Haven’t been told he has that though. Suppose any new lump is just so worrying 😢

Ok, first things first, take a breath and try not to panic x
Yanbu to get it checked out by your gp - the pain off and on and whilst I’m one pic it looks like it could be his bottom rib in the second it’s not so clear x
BUT don’t jump to worst case scenario x It could be a twisted ball of muscle, a hernia, an injury he’s forgotten about or a whole h host of other things that it could turn out to be that I can’t think of x You are not wrong to be anxious and worried, he’s your son and it’s perfectly normal so please try not to go past that into full panic mode xx
Fingers crossed you see the dr and he’s able to diagnose and put your mind at rest xxx

Lipomas are totally benign. I have about 35 all over my body. Just get it checked out by the GP

Could be an abdominal hernia

How did you get on with this @cc99xo? Hope all was ok in the end 💐
