Baby car seat advice- rotating isofix base

Help!!!

I am possibly BU, has the iCandy website lied/misled us?

We have bought Cybex Cloud T base so that we have the ability to rotate the base to put the baby’s seat directly from the pram base, into the car (iCandy Peach 7) as the website said they were compatible. They aren’t 🥺

Does anyone know of an isofix base that rotates and works with the iCandy? Please let me know- due date is rapidly approaching.

Admittedly, made this fit the AIBU criteria for traffic 🙂

Do you have the Cybex car seat as well as the base? And are you saying the car seat isn’t compatible with the isofix base or the pram chassis?

Amy0494 · 01/09/2025 17:06

We have the isofix base but the iCandy car seat which isn’t compatable as we thought. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on any other car seats that will be compatible but not too expensive

What brand is the car seat? I candy don’t make their own car seats, is it not a collaboration with a car seat brand?

So I’ve had a look at the I Candy website and it’s a bit confusing. In one part they say they don’t have a base for their own car seat and in another they do.

You would be best with a decent car seat such as Cybex, Avionaut, Maxi Cosi or Be Safe. If had my time again I’d not bother with the ISOFIX base and just secure the car seat in with the seat belt. It’s just as safe if done correctly. That’s £150 ish saved too. Spend ££ on a decent seat itself.

Thank you, we’ve got the iCandy pram bundle that comes with the care seat & base which works fine for that, we were recommended to get the isofix swivel base one but thought it worked with the current car seat we have.

As far as I know car bases aren’t usually universal. Although multiple seats might use the base it’s usually the same brand. Honestly though it won’t be that big of a deal to not have swivel. the swivel Is to remove the baby from the seat easier as they’re facing you. if you’re wanting to get the car seat in and out with baby still in it to attach to pram base it doesn’t make much difference at all

Thank you 😀

As PP said, car seat bases are not universal, you need to get a specific base for a specific seat. You need to find out what seat you have (make and model) and then look up what base goes with that particular seat, it will be from the same brand. Or buy a cybex seat that will fit the Cloud T base that you already have.

Icandy making their own car seats is pretty new.

As far as I know the cocoon is only compatible with their base and I don't think they have a swivel base yet

You don’t put the isofix on the pram. You’ll need car seat adapters to put onto the pram then the car seat. The isofix base is for your car

Can you send a screenshot or link to the bundle you have bought, or a picture of the car seat? Ideally the orange label on the back/bottom of the car seat. What make is it? They usually have a label saying e.g. Maxi Cosi/Cybex/etc. It might also be the iCandy Cocoon car seat.

It could be any one of literally dozens of car seats that you have with it. You need to get the correct base for the car seat, the pushchair make and model doesn't matter.

I would also echo that the rotating bases always seemed a bit pointless to me - it's helpful to be able to turn an older child towards you to get their straps etc all done up straight, but when you have the carry type seat you can just do that in the house on the floor/changing table etc. (Obv never leave the car seat alone on a raised surface.)

When you get to the next stage you can get plenty of rotating seats where the base is attached, so don't worry about having the rotation for now. If you already have a car seat and base, I would just stick with those and return the Cybex base. Hopefully the shop are happy to accept it back.
