To buy food from Temu?

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 31/08/2025 15:58

Looking to buy some noodles and Google tells me that Temu are the cheapest place to buy from.
DH thinks it’s too risky and I might die of poisoning.

AIBU to buy food from there? Would you? Is DH right and I risk death by noodle?

What sort of noodles are they? A pack of Asda super noodles is like 30p, how much cheaper? 🥴

It’s not a business I’d buy a single thing from, it’s a terrible business to give money to, no matter what you are buying.

100% agree. Shein too. Awful and money is NO excuse!

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 31/08/2025 16:04

It’s a specific flavour of Buldak noodles @RunningNananananananananana

A lot of temu products (non edible ones) have been found to not meet safety requirements and contain high levels of toxic chemicals such as lead, so no I wouldn't dream of buying food from there.

I also wouldn't buy anything for my children from there.

Hmm, can’t see how the noodles involve forced labour. Claims to ship from somewhere in the uk.

Have you looked in an Asian grocery shop for them? My local one has 5 packs of buldak carbonara noodles for £2.49

Costs much more when adding in shipping.

Shipped from the UK doesn't mean they were produced in the UK.
Forced labour is rife across the world and even occurs here in the UK.
Temu does not have any checks to ensure they don't sell the products of forced labour.

Gross! Absolutely not.

I wouldn't buy anything edible or anything that comes into contact with food, any children's toys or clothes or anything electrical or with batteries from Temu.

A lot of it will be counterfeit and not safety tested, not worth the risk.

limecola · 31/08/2025 16:27

Beware that some noodles are high in carcinogenic contaminants quite a few are no longer for sale here in the UK due to previous issues so just be careful.

I did not know this.

I will not be buying food from Temu!

The idea of buying food from Temu makes me think of the contaminated Chinese formula which killed babies in 2008. Noodles are cheap enough as it is.

SillyGo0se · 31/08/2025 16:50

Are you near a home bargains?

They have lots of varieties of noodles and often have Buldak in 😊

Ooh, which flavour are you looking for? I can recommend the rosé and the seasoned chicken flavour (purple ones).

Was the croissant lamp from Temu?

So they say "shipped from UK" not made in the UK.

They make stuff in company 1, sell it to company 1a (both of which are under the same umbrella company) and then ship it to customers from 1a
