To think this is a false positive pregnancy test?

My period is 3 days late according the flo app so I’ve just taken a test. I had a few left in a bag of cheapies from Amazon. I took one and it immediately looked strange as the dye was only going along one half of the test at a strange angle. This then eventually evened out and showed a positive.
i took another as I thought the first test looked so odd to start with (using the same wee from a pot) and this came back negative.
everything I’ve read online seems to say false positives don’t happen but surely in this case it is? I took them minutes apart with the same wee sample.

To think this is a false positive pregnancy test?

These tests are notoriously unreliable. Get yourself a “first response” and try again in the morning 😊

OP be VERY CAREFUL. When my pregnancy was ectopic the test was positive one time but negative at the doctors on the first test he did. When he repeated I think there ws a faint positive. Im trying to remember. But if you have symptoms and no period still be alert to this and get it checked out.

@OVienna oh gosh that’s so scary, thank you for the warning! I have no idea about ectopic pregnancies but I’ll do some research now!

Usually by the time your period is late you will have a dark line...I would test again tonight..it could be a chemical

Those are cheap and unreliable.

I've had a false positive before (in hospital of all places when I was taken to A&E with extreme stomach pain) so they do happen.

Is it likely you're pregnant?

I'd take one more tomorrow then if that's negative then give it a few more days.
