To think people don’t take phone security seriously?

If your phone was stolen unlocked from your hand, would the thief be able to get into emails/banking apps etc.?
After a friend had this happen and lost access to pretty much everything, including social media, I have my phone locked down very securely.

It shocks me that you are normally asked for a phone number for stuff like account security, what’s the point of them sending a code to your phone that a thief has and can see even if the phone is locked if you have pop up notifications enabled.
You should protect every single app with fingerprint or face id and set up your phone so nobody can get into your phone settings and change things or view your saved passwords. If you have screenshots of sensitive info, put them in a hidden album folder. Have all your passwords in a protected vault online.
Peoples’ whole lives are on their phones yet how many think of the consequences of losing them?

There are guides online for how to change your settings and other security measures.

Look up SIM pin too.
And two factor authentication.

People (massive generalisation coming) are hopeless with their phones. Keep your software updated too.

Yes mine are all face protected and I don't have my debit card bank account on my phone, I have it on my iPad at home. The only account I have on my phone is one credit card and that same card is in Apple wallet. I have no need to bank when I am out, I only use a credit card for everything. I don't have that many apps on my phone anyway as I don't use them, I don't use Facebook, WhatsApp, stuff like that.

My phone locks immediately. I have the SIM pin protected. No notifications show on the home screen.

This worries me too. So many people have their entire lives on their phone. Mine is old and is nothing but a phone and camera to me (and some games).

Yep my phone and digital presence in general is completely locked down, 2FA, password manager, physical keys etc
When I was pickpocketed and had phone stolen they got nothing- not even the phone itself (only for parts) as I had it theft locked (that apple feature)

No, people really dont think it! And i do think that the reason manufacturers dont set the phones up in 'safe' settings as default is that security does for the most part make a phone slightly more complicated to use, which puts people off the brand.

Unfortunately my phone will only sometimes accept my fingerprint (even 5 minutes apart) and rarely facial recognition. Yes it's a rubbish phone but I can't afford to replace it.

Never heard of sim lock though so I'll look that up.

I don't have my debit card bank account on my phone, I have it on my iPad at home
Ooohhhh! Excellent idea thank you!
