Budget for 14 Year old birthday present plus celebration

AIBU to think £250-£300 is an acceptable amount of money to spend on a 14 year old for their birthday. This would be a present and doing something to celebrate on their actual birthday. (Too old for a party but an activity with a few friends.)

I think this is reasonable but wonder what the general consensus is.

Acceptable in whose eyes? If you can afford it and you want to spend it then who is anyone else to judge? If you’re asking if it’s an average amount for a 14 year old then yes probably - especially with activity included.

I don’t think you need to worry about what anybody else thinks.

It would depend on what the activity is. I paid £80 for two games of ten pin bowling for my eldest son (20): and his friends. They can get their own drinks and I will do some food and cake when they get back
