To think managers are basically just salespeople?

Good managers sell you the vision, the workload and sometimes even the illusion that they’re doing more than they actually are. Bad managers sell excuses, unrealistic expectations and nonsense. Either way, it often feels like they’re just pitching something rather than actually leading.

Is it just me or have others noticed this too?

I actually think that's a good way of looking at it.

Every day, one of these posts about ‘managers’ like they’re a homogenous group.

Different managerial roles will require different skills, depending on the job, seniority, industry etc.
