To do what I did to this pusher inner?

There's a man who pushes in every single night. Me saying something doesn't make a bit of difference. I've said something so many times. Tonight the bus doors where shut while the driver rested. Everyone was queuing. He comes as usual and saunters right to the front of the queue. I had been waiting an hour by this point and an earlier bus had been missing. He'd just turned up as usual. I went and positioned myself right infront of him in a little gap and told him I was doing what he did every single night. Petty, but it made me feel empowered. Would you have done the same?

Rude of him yes, and he shouldn’t do it. Though everyone will get on a bus anyway, so queuing seems a bit moot. Unless seats are scarce?

How did he react?

babybirdsmomma · 21/08/2025 18:22

Yes I would ! And every single time. People like him wind me up , if there was a bus missing I’m guessing there were a lot more people queuing to board. Why should he saunter up and get straight on before someone who’s stood for an hour. Good for you 👍🏻

taxidriver · 21/08/2025 18:23

good for you

shellyleppard · 21/08/2025 18:26

@TreatTreat well done I would do exactly the same. It gets bloody annoying after a while

itsgettingweird · 21/08/2025 18:28

many moons ago when I caught the bus we had a gentleman do the same.

One day I felt emboldened and as he didn’t I said “here, take my elbow. I’ve just done a training bc purse on how to support people who are visually impaired”

He looks at me confused “There’s nothing wrong with my eye sight”.

”what’s the reason you do t see a queue of people righting don’t of you every day then?” <sweet smile>

He never pushed in again! Actually I got a car a few months later and so he may have tried it again but I hope the other regulars continued the legacy!

To go back to the title of your thread, it doesn't seem to me that you did anything. Therefore there is no case to answer.

WishSheWouldGoAway · 21/08/2025 19:19

It depends if there are very few seats left, then yes,. If the entire bus is empty, then I don't care who gets on first as long as everybody gets a seat and i'm getting a seat.

I can't get angry about pushing in if i'm going to get a seat.

greenbuckets · 21/08/2025 19:19

Yeah I'd do that.

LittlleMy · 21/08/2025 19:57

Whilst I’m glad you have the confidence to, I personally wouldn’t. Just too many unpredictable types out there which might result in an altercation or worse. A Paddington bear stare from a safe distance will have to do for me! I’d hate to have an altercation or something worse just because of a ‘pusher inner’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

There's a twat on every thread and you win today's award.

Did you read my op of what I did? Your comment is pointless. Why did you bother?

Wow, that was unnecessarily aggressive.

From your OP it sounds as though what you did was push in in front of the man who pushes in.

pestowithwalnuts · 26/08/2025 07:00

What does this mean ?

ZenNudist · 26/08/2025 07:01

I'm still confused. Is there a seat shortage? Why would you queue an hour? Most people would get there 5-10 mins before it's due.

BankHolidayer · 26/08/2025 07:07

I totally agree with @Mulledjuice .
@ComeTheMoment might have missed out the word confrontational or aggressive or offensive but the meaning is clear. Did you read the comment too quickly, or have a different take on it?
Oh, and yes, I would have done what you did in the queue but I certainly wouldn’t respond the way you have to @ComeTheMoment.

AmoozzBoosh · 26/08/2025 07:14

Good for you. What was his reaction?

ilovesooty · 26/08/2025 07:19

I don't know whether I would or not. Depends on how I'm feeling at the time. Some people are rude but at the end of the day it would only matter a lot to me if seats were in short supply.

I think that reply from OP was triggered by the lack of immediate rounds of applause and cries of "You go, girl!".
I'm sure the OP doesn't think she was being U (I don't think she was BU) but did want immediate positive strokes.
It happens a lot on AIBU.

Eta Obviously, I agree with MulledJuice and thought OP's reply to that poster U

johnd2 · 26/08/2025 07:36

I'm sure everyone else was silently cheering you on, but if you squeezed in front of him does that mean you also pushed in front of everyone else? (Or were you already at the front?) And does that mean he was basically second in a long line instead of first?

rwalker · 26/08/2025 07:42

Bus ques are bit of a free for all I’m presuming the que is going down the side of the bus and the guy joins in from the other side effectively at the front

tbh I doubt he even cared

Typo for 'right in front of you'

Yep. I felt that what the OP did was not confrontational in the circs. Obviously I was a twat to have missed this word off.

BankHolidayer · 28/08/2025 18:49

You weren’t a twat @ComeTheMoment. OP didn’t cover herself in glory when responding to you.
