To think they should have text?

Sent a present via post for a child and got the message it had delivered yesterday morning. No text of thanks or acknowledgment.

AIBU to think it takes 30 seconds to send a message saying thanks?

Possible they haven't opened it yet. Maybe give it a couple of days?

HugoSpritzzz · 20/08/2025 13:41

Christ give them a chance!

AgentPidge · 20/08/2025 13:43

Is it for a birthday? If so, when is it?

Coconutter24 · 20/08/2025 13:45

Is it a birthday gift or just a gift?

Allswellthatendswelll · 20/08/2025 13:46

I always write thank you cards with DS but might be a week or so after. So I wouldn't message probably I'd wait for that. Or they haven't opened it yet -I often pace out presents as can be overwhelming for young kids.

They might be busy… if they haven’t said/text thanks within a week, then I’d think they were rude. Within a day, YABU.

It’s rude not to send thanks but if it’s for a child that has just been born I’d give them a break. There’s so much going on in those first few weeks and I always tried to send thanks immediately so that I didn’t forget but at one stage it did take me over a week to send a message!

Cutleryclaire · 20/08/2025 14:15

I think a birthday - to a week to day thanks.

birth - 3/4 weeks is fine.

Silverbirchleaf · 20/08/2025 14:17

Is it a birthday present? If so, hopefully they’ll send a message after the birthday.

If it’s for a new baby, they’ll probably do all their thank-you messages in one sitting.

chilliheeler123 · 20/08/2025 21:03

I also think it’s a bit rude to not say thanks! I sent my friend’s new baby a personalised gift when she was born, I know she received/liked it because I saw it framed in the nursery in a photo she uploaded on Instagram 😂 didn’t text to say thanks, and I didn’t even get a card from her when my own DS was born 3 months later 😅

Did you send it for praise?
