To ask DH not to do overtime the week before due date

DH has told me he’s opted in for voluntary overtime twice in the week before DC2 is due. One is an evening and the other a Saturday. We’re comfortable financially and don’t necessarily need the money but of course, every little helps especially with a new baby on the way.

My 1st labour was pretty quick, I went from 2cm at 5am to 10cm at 8am - I was induced on my due date though so I don’t know if that changes things.

As he says he’s going to be at work anyway, so makes no real difference. It’d take him around 1.5 hours to get home.

I think I just feel a little anxious about it because we have DC1 to think about this time. I fully understand I can’t expect him to be here 24/7 just in case but I’m just keen to see what the general consensus is in this situation.

YABU - fine for him to do overtime
YANBU - probably best he opts out

Do you have anyone else around to help you if needed? I think I would be ok with it IF it was clear that he keeps himself reachable at all times at the slightest twinge he makes his way back.

Given he’d be at work anyway I’d be fine with it. However I’d ensure he was fully contactable at all times. I’d also have provision in place for someone to care for DC1 which I guess you probably have anyway.
