Does anyone know the rules here???

We get married next week in Spain, we fly on Friday and return the following Friday 29th…

My daughters passport expires on the 8th March 2026 so on the day we travel back- she has 6 months and 1 week left before it expires.

My husband didn’t want to renew it and it not come back in time a month or so ago….

Now I’m worried it won’t be ok, but he says it is because you need 3 months not 6 for Spain?

I’m stressing, she’s 5 so was issued less than 10 years ago, that’s not a problem.

You need 3 months, so it’s fine

Northerngirl821 · 18/08/2025 12:34

Sounds fine - it’s got six months validity from the date of entry and it was issued less than ten years ago.

Downplayit · 18/08/2025 12:37

If you only need 3 months this is a technicality but isn't it the date of issue that is also important especially on a 10 year passport. So for instance if your passports was issued on 29th March but then expires on 29th April that extra month doesn't count any more.

She’s only 5, so her passport is nowhere near 10 years old lol

The rule is 3 months and she has over 6 months left so what are you worrying about?

EdisinBurgh · 18/08/2025 12:48

You’ll be fine

CountryQueen · 18/08/2025 12:53

It’s fine

TorroFerney · 18/08/2025 12:53

As an aside, my recent passport renewal took less than a week to process.

old passport arrived with them 1st August, approved the application on the 2nd and printed on the 5th. And that included a weekend.

Tui have a passport checker on the website. You enter the details and country of travel then they tell u if it’s valid. Just to put your mind more at ease.

morellamalessdrama · 19/08/2025 08:05

It’s fine. We recently travelled and our son had six months and two days left. It was within the six months which is the main thing (we went somewhere that needed six months on it left) and Spain requests only three months so you’re totally fine.

Zanatdy · 19/08/2025 08:06

Nothing to worry about, it meets the rules.

Trickabrick · 19/08/2025 08:09

What they all said! But this is exactly the sort of thing I worry about before we go on holiday - somehow falling foul of a rule that I’ve already checked 🤣
