DS15 - food allergy or normal behaviour?

I’ve noticed a pattern of behaviours with DS15 and wondering how “normal” this is.

He’s growing fast at moment and eating ALOT but likes to eat healthy, looking great, slim but not skinny, doing all his sports and clubs etc. However, when we go to restaurants, which with it being summer holidays has been more than usual hence Ive noticed, he eats a massive portion but seems to be hungry etc., so I’ve just let him get on with it but here is my question. About 1/2 way through the meal religiously he’ll have to go the toilet for a poo, and is gone for ages, to the point DH will usually pop into the men’s to check he’s okay, not being sick or anything. Anyway, he’ll come back and eat the rest of his food like nothing has happened, and then have to go again at the end of the meal so there is quite a bit of hanging around waiting for him.

Is this normal for teenagers? He says he doesn’t have a sore tummy and doesn’t have diarrhoea or anything but it makes me wonder??? Any boy teenager mums there with advice?

If he's not unwell, I'd think it's just the way his body works currently as his bowel is preparing for the imminent mountain of food to descend.

My teens do this at home occasionally too, although I'm not sure they need to go twice.

If it only happens when you eat in restaurants then it's unlikely to be anything too worrying.

As the pp said, his body might just be making space.

Or there might be a reaction to an ingredient, if it was always the same restaurant. MSG for example.

My teen wouldn't use any toilet other than home, so that created other issues.
