Has anyone else got this horrible summer cold?!

I tend to only get this kind of thing in the winter. I’m coughing a lot and very blocked nose. My upper chest feels quite sore. I’ve had it for almost a week. Annoying as we are going away on Monday, my DS has it too and has been coughing for over a week, plus very snotty.

There is a lot of Covid around

Gnarab24 · 15/08/2025 19:38

My DD had this after going to a festival, it was covid.

MrsTigerface · 15/08/2025 20:01

Yes - I had it for just over a week, and felt dreadful. Sympathies.

I’m hoping that your virus will be the same, i.e. that having already had it this long you’ll start to feel much better over the weekend and will be on good form for your holiday next week xxx

Yes, I caught it from DS ( 17) Terrible cough and sore throat. DD is next I think. I’m on IV chemo, so not best pleased ☹️

I've had this; I posted about it in General Heath. I had it for 3 weeks and I'm still croaky; i did a Covid test which was negative.

It started with a sore throat, then a head cold, then it went on my chest, which needed steroids, as I'm asthmatic and woke up a couple of times struggling to breathe.

Felt exhausted up until last weekend ( it started on the 24th of July) and I'm just about back to normal, apart from catarrh, the chesty cough lasted ages. I used throat sweets, cough medicine, and hot drinks & honey & lemon. I sympathise OP; I thought it would never go.

I’m hoping the sea air (we’re going to Llandudno) will help clear some of it!
weirdly I don’t feel unwell with it and neither does my DS, only seems a little more tired than normal.

I'm 2 weeks in and DH is 3 weeks in. Both had awful coughs, but no fever. My ears have thankfully started to clear but I'm still full of mucus that's pooling in the back of my throat. I'm tired, irritable and over it today. Not Covid - DH had a test at the GP surgery as he's asthmatic and needed a different inhaler. All of our grandchildren have had it... and we think that's who shared the love Hmm

Same here! Had it for 3 weeks, started as a barking cough, blocked ears, sore throat . Cough loosened after a couple of weeks and now started to clear up but still coughing and sneezing now and again and a slight sore throat. Bloody fed up with it

UneFoisAuChalet · 15/08/2025 21:13

Yes, I’m on the tail end of it. I’ve got a horrible cough and a lot of phlegm on my chest. Also lost my voice.

I completely avoided illness during the winter but here I find myself in August sounding like I belong in December.
