Who wears their blanket?

I’m curious - do you wear your blanket all over the house?

My DD (a teen) is always wrapped up in a blanket - even when it’s warm! And she drags it around the house with her. He dad was the same. They would have the blanket around their shoulders whilst making tea, breakfast, opening the front door, going to the garden - everywhere! It annoys me so much when I see it dragging on the ground - I just think of how much dirtier she’s making it.

Whereas I am so particular with my blanket, I wrap around in it if I’m in bed or on the sofa - or cold.

I actually want to know if anyone else is a “blanket dragger” or more like me.

Unreasonable - let her drag her blanket around
Reasonable - it should be kept clean

Buy them Oodies - problem solved. My DH and DC both wear theirs all the time, it’s like living with a couple of druids 🤣

dudsville · 15/08/2025 07:52

I think I did this when I was a kid? There are throws on the sofas, blankets in the bed, and they're not interchangeable in my mind!

SunflowerLife · 15/08/2025 07:52

One of my autistic DDs does, she likes the comfort of it.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 15/08/2025 08:06

Sounds literally like a comfort blanket - like Linus from Peanuts

This thread reminded me of an incident about a year ago that really made me laugh (though I had to go into another room to do so in order not to upset DD!)

DS (who is younger than DD) has a tendency to bring his duvet downstairs with him at weekends and holidays and wrap himself in it on the sofa, watching TV and eating cereal from the packet.

One morning DD (older, neurodiverse, still wets the bed and wears DryNites) said to him “why are you wearing your duvet?”

DS retorted “well you’re wearing your toilet!”

Rightly or wrongly, that made me laugh.

Rest assured, I did later remind DS not to be mean about DD’s night time issue. He’s NT and never had that problem.

I hadn’t thought of that, you are quite right.

I love a blanket on the sofa but I don't carry a blanket around with me.
In the winter I always put a dressing gown or oodie on when I get in though so probably not too dissimilar

whatsinanameeh · 15/08/2025 08:37

I read the title and thought "my teen does that"

He even bought blankets with hoods so he doesn't have to wear his dressing gown, but can wear the blanket. Came home from work on Tuesday and he had his oodie on instead. I nearly passed out from heat exhaustion just looking at him.

BeachPebbleWave · 15/08/2025 08:38

Colleague who is always wrapped up in a blanket in Teams meetings.

It’s a minor thing but drives me nuts. Always looks like she ready to tuck up with a hot cocoa and a romcom than take part in a workday.

OnlyYellowRoses · 15/08/2025 08:41

Yep 👍 I’ve got two blanket daggers here (15 & 13) but I tend to only wrap blankets round me when on bed or sofa then take them off if moving around the house. I tend to wear a thick dressing gown during winter though and definitely don’t use the blankets now during summer! The teens do though and I find the blankets plopped on the floor in various places round my house.

Cheesecrunch · 15/08/2025 08:42

One of my teens had an oodie on then a blanket around his shoulders last night!

sylv165 · 15/08/2025 08:51

My teen does this too. Spends most of her time slouching around the house with it wrapped around her like E.T.

Avonandice · 15/08/2025 08:57

Ive got a blanket dragger much prefer it to the previous preference which was a sleeping bag. It was like living with a six foot caterpillar that hoovered the fridge clean.

theprincessthepea · 16/08/2025 09:46

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one - I do hope she grows out of it (because her dad never did!)

@BeachPebbleWave I wouldn’t mind it if it didn’t annoy me - I don’t know what I do like about it, but I let her do it and remind her to put it down if she’s going to make food or something.

She has an oodie and a thick fluffy night gown - but interchanges them for the blanket

@PansyPotter84 I did chuckle a little. Although it reminds me of the cheeky comments I have to monitor between siblings.

My dog likes to drag their blanket around and take it outside and shake it 🤭but I don't know any humans who do this.

SoftAsShit · 16/08/2025 09:59

My 3 year old son does this 🤣

I’m really anal about my blankets staying neatly folded in the sofa unless in use, but my kids seem to be constantly using them that they’re never neatly folded anymore and it makes part of my brain ache 🤣

Itiswhysofew · 16/08/2025 10:00

I had no idea about these blankets. When my cousin was a baby & a toddler he had a little towel that he called his tok, and it went everywhere with him.

itbemay1 · 16/08/2025 10:19

We don’t have blankets! Just covers on the bed and that’s where they stay

UsingAMansNameInAWomensWorld · 16/08/2025 10:32

You can just... wash a blanket you know?

We don’t have blankets! Do most people have their own individual blankets?
We have throws on the sofas but they stay in the sofas. No one carries a blanket round with them.

BethBynnag86 · 16/08/2025 10:52

We have 2 sofa 'duvets' (one Winter/one Summer TOG) which have a variety of loose covers to blend in with the sofa/seasons & draped over the back of it when not in use . If we have visitors then I just fling the duvet into the cupboard under the stairs until after they've gone 😁
