To think that some AIBU posts are pointless?

For example "AIBU to think tattoos are horrible?" (I've picked that because I have tattoos myself). There's no definitive answer, some people like tattoos and some people hate tattoos.

Any other examples?

This one?

Needmorelego · 11/08/2025 13:19

It seems any threads that start "To think" are just to get a conversation going.
(tattoos - wouldn't have one myself, don't care if other do)

"Is it OK to remove the bath & just have a shower?"

For some people having a bath in the house is essential. Other people mind less.

purplecorkheart · 11/08/2025 13:24

The ones I find pointless is where the op is told by everyone that they are in the wrong but they disagree and keep arguing back.

Darragon · 11/08/2025 13:35

The ones that get me are: AIBU to think something bloody obvious and utterly banal that I'm clearly not being unreasonable to think? Like AIBU that murderers should go to jail? Or AIBU to drive on the left in the UK?
And yet still at least one batshit poster appears and tells them they're BU.

HelenaWaiting · 11/08/2025 13:35

"He liked my friend's pic on insta and it upset me and we had a row. Now he's blocked me. AIBU to block him back?"

I have no fucks to give.

Ah, those are my favourites! Batshit and aggro for 40 pages, with truly insane drip feeds when it doesn’t go their way, vs something that’s going to trail off after a few because it’s so nothingy.

OoooopsUpsideYourHead · 11/08/2025 13:41

"I came across an injured person on the street and (insert heroic action). Was I being unreasonable or should I have just stepped over them like everyone else?"

If you want a pat on the back just start a thread in Chat telling everyone what you did.

But don't shoehorn it into a stupid question 🙄

Darragon · 11/08/2025 13:47

Variations on this theme:
AIBU to stop messaging this utter arsehole whose entire personality and existence is a walking red flag? We've never met but we're in a "relationship" and IDK what to do.

I always want to shout at the screen come on OP you must know YANBU.
🤦‍♀️

Dangermoo · 11/08/2025 19:12

It's hardly used for its intended purpose.

BallerinaRadio · 11/08/2025 19:19

My husband beats me senseless and throws chairs at me and calls me all the names under the sun and takes my phone off me and doesn't let me see my friends.

AIBU to think this isn't right? It's just I left a corner of the bed untucked this morning so I'm not sure.

🙄

cobrakaieaglefang · 11/08/2025 19:22

the AIBU, a resounding 'yes', poster flounces, no replies and a message pops up with 'op has privacy concerns so we are taking this down'.

Hehe! I love those they are always hilarious!

They always go the same way- everyone says YES YABU. So, then out come the drip feeds and pity plays to try to win everyone over to their side but people see right through that ploy and arent budging- still YABU. Then, they ghost the thread for a bit saying it's too much and people are being too mean. Then they come back for one last hurrah where they throw around personal insults at everyone and shout that they definitely arent being unreasonable and everyone they know in real life agrees so we must all be a bunch of hateful bitches and then they flounce off.

Le fin. LOLOL

Surely it’s only pointless if the voting is 50/50? If 90% of people agreed and thought tattoos were horrible, the poster would feel fairly vindicated I would’ve thought? So it would not be pointless to them.

AIBU?

Yes, probably
