Waking up Dd, aibu or is he?

DH has been out since 5.30 this morning doing his hobby, had a lovely day with DD but bedtimes can be hard, she’s difficult to settle some nights and resists sleep a lot. Tonight is one of those nights. Text DH said to be quiet when he gets in as I’d been trying to settle her since 7.45pm.

DH strolls in from his hobby at 9pm, 10 minutes after she’d dropped off, walked straight into her room to see if she was awake aa he’s missed her and she woke up.

He’s now gone for a poo, a shower and something to eat whilst I start the process of getting DD to sleep again.

I’ve got a huge pile of washing to sort out, lunches to make for tomorrow, he’s stomping around upstairs constantly waking her up but he said it’s ok, he’s going to bed after his shower so she can go with him.

Aibu? Am I just tired and naggy? I could scream!

I’d be fuming! Selfish arsehole.

Why can’t he do the washing, sorting lunch prep etc? You can settle your DD.

OoooopsUpsideYourHead · 10/08/2025 21:19

How old is DD?

When he finishes his poo, he can see to her and you can go back to what you were doing.

He’s been up since 5 and is tired 🙄DD is 3

He's an idiot. Get him to put her to bed.

TheGoodOnesAreAllGone · 10/08/2025 21:45

Well if he woke her up, he can get her back to sleep. He won't be able to go to bed at the same time though as he's got washing to sort out before he sleeps. It's not for you to pick up the slack because he's tired from getting up early for his hobby 🙄
I hope you're only making lunches for yourself and dd?

Lottie6712 · 10/08/2025 22:02

I'd be fuming.

This ^
and if he can’t manage that but can somehow manage the energy for his hobbies, I’d be expecting him to be rethinking the hobbies so he can concentrate on DD!
why let him get away with this selfish behaviour ?

Eenameenadeeka · 10/08/2025 22:49

Wow, I'd be very frustrated. He should absolutely be the one getting her back to sleep because he was very thoughtless to wake her like that.

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/08/2025 22:54

Selfish bastard

nutbrownhare15 · 10/08/2025 23:22

I'm guessing you never get 15.5 hours of hobby time OP? What am entitled dickhead.

annoyedasf · 11/08/2025 00:01

Not really no, I do see my friends often, but always make sure I’m either home to put her to bed or have the morning with her. I do however get constant messages when I’m out 🙃
Im glad I’m not being unreasonable here, as he cannot see why I’m annoyed!
