My friend has said she’s paid for and treating me to camping because it’s my birthday. Nice right? Yeah
she’s now asked for
£80 towards it? But I don’t have a spare £80? Would you be annoyed or not please

How did she word it?

”can i have £80 towards the holiday I have bought for you?”

You tell her you don't have £80?

If someone treated me to a camping holiday they'd be no friend of mine!

She's not treating you if you're paying. If you can't afford it, tell her.

YANBU. It’s not appropriate to spend other people’s money for them. If she’d discussed the plan in advance, including your contribution, and your agreed to it that would be different. But to present it as a done deal and expect you to cough up, not okay.

If she is your friend you should be able to have a conversation about this .

“Sarah I’m so grateful that you offered to take me on a weekend away camping for my birthday - I’m so excited! But I don’t have £80 spare to go towards it. I assumed it was a gift that I didn’t need to pay for, otherwise I would of turned it down”

I'd assume she didn't know me at all as I'd never go camping
