Do you have lining on your bedroom curtains?

I don’t and a huge amount of light comes in at this time of year, so I wake early etc. Seems dumb but it had never really occurred to me I could get thicker ones until my mum was visiting and mentioned in passing ‘oh we have lining on ours’. I guess the advantage of having thin ones is I can draw them when the light gets strong mid-afternoon and still have a decent amount of light in the room. But I wonder if I would sleep better with lining. What do you have in your room?

YABU - I have thick curtains with lining that properly block out the light so I don’t wake at 5am in summer

YANBU - I have thin curtains without lining and in summer a lot of light comes in

No but I also have a blackout blind in a neutral colour. The curtains are more for show and match the bedding.

You can buy separate black out liners that you hang behind the curtains if you don’t want to change the fabric you have.

Our bedroom faces due east so blackout blinds are essential in the summer months

This. We already had eyelet curtains left in our current home when we moved in so adding £15 per panel B&M blackout eyelet curtains to sit behind in summer was a game changer. Don’t need to spend much to be comfortable.

Coincidentally this week we ordered a set of blackout curtains for our bedroom. The current ones are very thin and it's a south facing bay window. We're hoping the new ones will both protect us from the summer 4.30am wake up calls and help prevent the room from turning into an oven on hot days.

Blackout curtains with a thermal lining and a blind that does the whole block the view in but not the sunlight thing youre talking about!

I don't have any window dressings (in any room) it's just my preference.

Why not get yourself a nice pair of winter curtains ( lined or a thick fabric - or both). If your window is a standard size, ready mades aren't that expensive & see what you think. You can always sell them on if you prefer your existing ones.
