This is the worst ‘upgrade’ ever (EE TV Box mini)

No idea if I’ll get any replies to this as it’s a bit niche, but by God, I am so disappointed.
I had the same BT TV box for YEARS and it worked perfectly, but had become rather slow. So when BT - sorry, EE - contacted me to say that the cost of my package was going up, I got in touch to ask for a new box.
It arrived today and I’ve set it up. But I’m gutted that it doesn’t support recording. I am having to watch adverts and can’t zip through them like I could with my old box, which recorded everything I wanted.
Not only that, but I was told that Netflix was included with the new box, and it is. But the most basic version with ads.
I hate this thing. I just want to keep using my trusty old BT TV box.
Do you think I could just connect it up again?

I thought EE did away with their EE TV which devastated me. You could record and choose 5 channels which you could watch any program at any time.

They did away with it. I still feel grief! It was a while ago so not sure what set up you are talking about now. I thought they had gone to making you have apple TV or something?

Replaced with a Manhatten, which just has basic channels but does record.

Why don't they leave good things alone ?

We are also having problems with EE too, although we changed from Sky. It is a much poorer service as you say - doesn’t actually record things, can’t skip through adverts. Our multi room box keeps dropping connection to the WiFi router.
We were also told Netflix was included, but now they are saying it isn’t.

Customer Service is really poor - they pass you from pillar to post, and each person says a different thing, and they don’t call back in the time frame they say they will!

They also changed us over from BT broadband to EE which is again is a much poorer service and doesn’t reach all parts of our house / our devices.

Thanks. I just hate it but don’t know if my old BT TV box will always support recording.
Not even when I was recording Coronation Street (😳) on VHS 30 years ago did I need to sit through adverts!

I insisted on keeping my BT broadband because I couldn’t be arsed with changing passwords, etc. I’m glad I did now!
