To think the implant is making me crazy

i got nexplanon in at March time and now I have realised I am easily irritable, and extremely emotional - to put it one way, previously I would have had a problem that I was unable to cry for YEARS due to depression no matter how much I wanted to, since I got the implant, I cry at absolutely anything

Definitely not being unreasonable. My periods were awful aswel. Get it outtt

TheOtherSide21 · 08/08/2025 20:56

I am the complete opposite - off the implant I am an unstable reprobate who shouldn’t be allowed the run of society as there’s a high probability murder might slide its way on to my to do list one afternoon.

It affects everyone differently.

Ugh all contraception sucks tbh . I don't think you're imagining it. Everything I've tried seems to have different cons..I've heard the copper coil is good but the fitting of it puts me off 😫

I would say though that with my previous implants, I would get no periods at all, and since ive had this latest one, i'm getting them regularly

Maybe there's a weird batch about

They kept telling me my implant couldn't be doing this (years ago now) as it was such a tiny amount of hormones, the gaslighting bastards. It did make me crazy and depressed. It has a long history of making women crazy and depressed yet still the medics and pharmaceutical companies keep denying it. I had mine taken out after 6 months and returned to normal. There are whole forums devoted to this.

Felt the same with my second implant. Had the first one for 3 yrs and was fine. But a few months after putting the second one on I was a mess! And was so hard to talk the drs into removing it! However once it was out within a couple of weeks I was back to normal.

I had the implanon bar and it absolutely sent me crazy. My emotions were erratic and uncontrollable and it took very little to tip me over the edge. I would never get it again

Oldernotwizer · 08/08/2025 21:06

It’s the progesterone in it. I had one put in quite soon after having a baby, and I definitely went a bit crazy. I gather it was the combination of progesterone from breastfeeding and progesterone from the implant. Too much progesterone! I had to have it out for the sake of my mental health, my anxiety was through the roof.

My dd became social with the implant within 3 months, at month 4 we had to demand that it was removed from her arm as she no longer consented to the treatment. Within 4 days she was much better. Got the injection next as suggested by the gp. Her acne exploded overnight and she because suicidal again. All of this to treat her pcos and ignoring her pmdd. Is an absolute shitshow that women still aren’t taken seriously about their reproductive heath.
