To eat the same cheap pizza every week (or more)

Pizzamm · 05/08/2025 20:05

For around the last 5 years I’ve enjoyed eating the same oven pizza once a week or more. I know it’s really bad for me but I really look forward to it. I think I might actually have a problem. Has anyone else become obsessed with a food?

It’s the small Chicago town ones, they are objectively pretty grim! But they taste good!!

Is it ristorante pizza?

Needmorelego · 05/08/2025 21:32

@Pizzamm oh good grief... nothing wrong with one of them once a week.
I sometimes have one as a lunchtime thing instead of cheese on toast.
Who has told you that they are so "bad" that you are worried about eating them?
Also not that cheap. I thought you meant one of those supermarket basics ones that cost about 69p or something 😂

honeyfox · 05/08/2025 21:34

I'm quite fond of a Ristorante one myself every so often.

Pizzamm · 05/08/2025 21:39

It’s a mini Chicago town one :) (well two in a pack)

When I was pregnant with my son I ate two drinks oetker ristorante pizzas in one evening.

Every day? And I’m not pregnant so don’t have that excuse 😂

I think that you'll survive, OP! As long as you have fruit and veg the rest of the week, a cheap supermarket pizza once or twice a week won't kill you.

The only thing is that there might come a point where you either get sick of it, or they change the recipe, and then you'll have to find a suitable replacement! (I'm looking at you, Tesco, for ruining one of my favourite things. I now have to buy it specially from the Co-Op...).

TheeNotoriousPIG · 05/08/2025 21:46

Also, the Chicago Town ones are quite tasty. I was quite partial to them at university, until I ate too many and was put off them!

TotHappy · 05/08/2025 21:47

I have developed a real problem with sweet chilli crisps (this is terribly outing because I've ranted about it to so many people...)
It started with half a bag and then sometimes I would finish the whole bag. This is a large sharing bag. But I would get one as a treat maybe once a month or less.
Now every time I get one, I already know I'm going to eat the whole bag, usually in less than 15 mins. And it's now up to 2 or 3 a week.
The other week, I bought 2, telling myself it was to be just 2 evenings that week.... and I ate them both in a sitting. That was a real low point.

I have actually started getting stomach pain/mouth pain after chowing the whole bag so I do need to actually stop this madness. By comparison, I think you're fine, OP.

Is it just a coincidence that your username is Pizzamm ?

I have done this with a type of cheese crisp from Tesco. I just can’t buy them as a whole sharer bag is gone in minutes. But has to be those crisps, any other sharer bag I could take and leave.

If it makes you feel better OP, when I was off to uni my mum suggested a frozen pizza once a week (a specific brand I liked). I think I’ve had one most weeks (although do now vary brands) since then and I went to uni almost 20 years ago…

RobertaFirmino · 05/08/2025 21:52

I understand your concern, an entire mini pizza in one sitting is rather piggish after all. May I suggest replacing the pizza with a lettuce leaf and half a tomato. Add one shaving of parmesan for that luxe feel.

Cherrytree86 · 05/08/2025 21:53

The ristorante mozzarella pizzas are pretty good

Youdontseehow · 05/08/2025 21:53

My nephew practically lived off pepperoni micro pizzas between the ages of 12 and 20 (long story). He’s now a 6’4” marathon runner. His (shocking) diet made me realise our bodies are programmed to draw every bit of nourishment out of what we eat. Although I wouldn’t recommend doing it for decades.

@Pizzamm you’ll be fine 🍕

Ap42 · 05/08/2025 21:55

Whenever I serve pizza in my house I a side salad. Balances it all out! Enjoy your pizza.

Needmorelego · 05/08/2025 21:55

The only crime about those Chicago Town mini pizzas is they don't make the ham and pineapple ones anymore.
Loved them.

TheDandyLion · 05/08/2025 22:00

2 of those Chicago town pizza are just over 800 calories.
1 medium dominos Margherita is 1200 calories and probably £15 more expensive.

I'd say it's a better deal.

The ristorante mozzarella pizzas are pretty good

especially if you add anchovies.

Makemydaypunk · 05/08/2025 22:06

I have a goodfellas margarita pizza once a week, I put on loads of fresh tomatoes, peppers and red onion, it’s delicious, I don’t consider it an unhealthy food, it’s bread cheese and vegetables at the end of the day, there are far worse foods you can eat.

Just once in 9 months but I'm still weirdly proud of myself.

CoastalCalm · 05/08/2025 22:54

We’ve started sharing a Chicago town cheese stuffed crust on a Friday night and they are delicious - add some extra toppings and better than any other supermarket pizza , easy tea no washing up or hassle with the ooni

Cososom · 05/08/2025 23:04

Yep, I'm the same with those salt and vinegar twirly crisps from M&S. I cannot leave any in the bag, and therefore I cannot buy them anymore.

I'm quite partial to a Dr Oetker salami pizza now and again, too. You'll be fine, OP.

Crushed23 · 06/08/2025 00:46

I have the exact same salad at work every day - whether I’m in the office or WFH (there is a branch of the salad bar near my apartment). I sometimes even have it at the weekend. The work day genuinely feels ‘off’ if I haven’t had it. So yeah, I would say it’s a bit of an obsession. 🙃
