Daughters tongue

I feel like a terrible parent.
My Daughter is nearly 10, she’s just been pulling funny faces and I’ve noticed the bit of skin that connects your tongue and lip isn’t there. This was not bought up at all when she was a baby (bottle fed) and I’m not sure why I’ve only just noticed now.
is this something I should be worried about? I’ve taken pictures If anyone has any advice!!😩😩

thank you

Do you mean connects your tongue to the floor of your mouth? The frenum
If so don't worry about it. Some people don't have much of a frenum.

RobinHumphries · 04/08/2025 18:25

Nothing connects your tongue to your lip - the teeth are in the way

Perfectly normal, I think. Both my DC had theirs cut as babies as they had tongue ties. Some break naturally.

anothernamechangeoccurs · 04/08/2025 18:31

Dentist here. Perfectly normal

TrixieFatell · 04/08/2025 18:32

Like other posters my youngest doesn't have much of a frenulum as it was snipped due to severe tongue tie. Doesn't cause any issues

MsTamborineMan · 04/08/2025 18:33

Oh I've just seen the photos. That looks nornal

Ifeelbroken · 04/08/2025 18:34

I thought it may of been from
her dad but he has one so maybe it’s one of them things! Feel much better now thank you x

The labial frenulum may however be causing the gap between the central incisors

Hankunamatata · 04/08/2025 18:50

Totally normal photo

A dummy won’t have affected her adult teeth

That's strange, not medically trained, might be totally normal, mine had tongue tie.
