St John Ambulance Cadets Tunbridge Wells

Hi there,

My 15-year-old daughter would love to join St John Ambulance Cadets. I’ve put her on the Tunbridge Wells waiting list, which currently has over 100 people on it. Could anyone please let me know how long it usually takes for someone to be invited?

Many thanks.

I don’t think she will get to the top of the list before she’s too old for it. Unless it’s a large unit and there are lots of people on the list who are no longer interested. Cadets start at 10 and often progress automatically from badgers (the younger group).

If you offer to volunteer as an adult helper in the unit, they might also let her join at the same time. To a point, the more adults they have the more cadets they can admit off the waiting list and the easier the running of the unit can be as it shares the workload out.

She might also enjoy Army Cadet Force, they do First Aid as well as lots of other activities if she can’t get into St John’s. I didn’t expect my DS to enjoy it but he did the full 6 years and is about to start volunteering as an adult.
