What are you doing, where and age ish?

Feeling very down and lost and wondering what others are up to.

I’m mid 40’s, in the Algarve, sat in the garden, it’s very peaceful. Dh doing story in bed with Dd, he’ll fall asleep, i’ll go in in a bit and watch some tele. All around me is so beautiful, lifestyle amazing, from the outside it looks incredible…

How about you?

41, sat in a dreary staff room gulping the NHS’s finest Coffee and hoping the rest of my shift flies by uneventfully. Feeling a bit glum, but that’ll soon pass once I’m off my nights.
I think it’s normal for our moods to fluctuate, some days, weeks and months are harder than others. I always think of 3 things I’ve done well at and 1 thing I could improve at the end of each day. Sometimes the good things can be as simple as getting up and making my bed or washing my hair, especially if I’m feeling blue. It’s important to remember that even on tough days, you’ve achieved something.

I’m in bed, 10 month old asleep in his, MIL getting settled on her blow up bed (she stays every week) and DP is making tea.

I’ve been on a basically starve yourself diet for 2 weeks and tonight I’ve pigged out on a bottle of Prosecco and now an unsupervised tirade on a packet of digestives 🤪 possibly the most boring cheat food ever.

Our lives look ideal from outside & don’t feel far off inside, we could do with a house & an engagement but all in good time!

Drinking a glass of wine in my living room in London watching TV (and scrolling obviously). Dog is snoozing on the sofa and DD has just gone up to bed. I’m 63. I think I’m depressed simply because I just can’t seem to get motivated to do more than bare minimum- I shop, I cook, I visited my son for a couple days this week for his birthday. But there’s quite a bit of life admin that I really need to do but just cannot. I’ve also put on more weight recently and it is really affecting my mobility. But knowledge is not action and I seem really stuck.

37, England. DD is at my parents' for a sleepover so we let DS stay up late to watch Interstellar with us. I cried at the end and DS gave me a very awkward teenager hug, bless him. DCat was sleeping on our bed when DH and I came up. We've just combed out today's collection of seeds, twigs and leaves from his fur while DKitten played with his tail. They're now chasing eachother up and down the stairs while DH brushes his teeth and I'm on MN.

Pretty happy (except for sad films!). Just paid ££££ on our upcoming holiday so a bit torn between being really excited and trying not to think about how much it cost.

Do you have kids?

No, just two toddler nephews around the corner that we look after a lot. The PlayStation is mine because I'm a massive nerd 🤓

this is one of the best and most grounding threads ever. Thank you all.

Age 49. Yorkshire. DD2 at sleepover, DH next door doing his thing, DD1 and I cuddling with DCat on sofa in front of sewing bee. She is very sad - we lost DGF recently and she is riding the roller coaster of being 14 - and she has had a long day too. Trying to sit with her through it so she doesn’t feel alone at least. This year has been fairly demanding work wise (I run my own business), economy, grief, new secondary in a few weeks for DD2 who has SEN. I’m also waiting for surgery which is effecting my mobility. But all in all we are very lucky and a strong wee unit, and life is OK.

Sending much love to those who are grieving and going through tough times Flowers
