Misgendered a dog.....🐕🐶🐾

Slightly light hearted but seriously....met a lovely little poodle today. It was tied up outside a shop for quite a while. Made a fuss of it, checked the collar for a name. Digby ❤️ wearing a pink collar and little harness. Owner eventually came back and I complimented her on her lovely little girl. Turned out it was a boy...... why put it in a pink harness and collar!!! She was not very happy 😂😂😂

My male labrador wore a pink collar for the first 2 years of his life. My 4 year old daughter chose it for him, and obviously I wasn't about to say no to her choice because "pink is for girls" 🙄 but I never got annoyed when everyone thought he was a girl 😂

My dog has a pink collar and is always misgendered as a boy because she’s a border terrier, so it looks like she has a beard, so people assume she is a boy 😆 she’s never been upset by it though!

I wouldn't assume 'Digby' was a boy, and pink is still more often used for girls/females. It doesn't matter at all, of course, but if you're the type of person to be offended if your dog is misgendered, surely you make life easier for everyone and choose blue, green, yellow, orange, red, black, white, or basically anything but pink. She was being very silly.

Yeah, to me digby is a boy dog name. And many people automatically say dogs are male regardless. Like 'good boy' etc. And that cats are female!?

My dog is a cutie always mistaken for a bitch. He’s a neutered dog - even he doesn’t understand what he is.

Eh? Loads of male dogs have 'been done' and don't have balls anymore!

With things like collars and leads - and indeed pushchairs for toddlers - what if you originally had a female dog/child and followed the stereotype and then later have a male dog/child?

Would you really stop using a perfectly good collar or pushchair or whatever and buy a new one, just because it happens to be pink?!

I know, not sure why they were looking, just really doubted me 😂
