To not want to sign this?

Hi, thanks for your help!! I've been given a lease amendment for a rental. The amendment changes certain clauses to the current lease. IE increase in rent etc.

Then out of left field the landlord has decided to add a clause saying that I should admit liability for a water leak two years ago which apparently they were billed for. Never heard anything about it. The water leak was my husband's fault.

Then they want me to admit liability for a blocked toilet pipe in a block of four flats where the pipes are super old. There is no evidence it was us and she herself said waiting on a final report.

Anyway what has this got to do with the lease? Shouldn't this be about the deposit.
LL has me under a section 21 too but said I can stay an extra tea hence amendment but she is putting me over a barrel .
What do I do. I said I won't sign for liability. But she might drop the whole lease

Landlord also won't replace a failed dishwasher even though I'm disabled and it's literally 200 pounds. Help

If you have been given a section 21 dont you have ti leave in 2 months?

MarciaMarcia · 30/07/2025 19:57

The section 21 - I was supposed to leave July 5th. But negotiated to stay an extra 12 months due to disability and going to leave the country in 12 months anyway. This was agreed but now the curve all of liability has been thrown into the mix.
The section 21 still stands currently.
