These kinds of things happen all the time, it was throwing it down today which hadn't been forecast on the weather so I didn't bring my umbrella.
I was getting soaked so went to buy an umbrella. The minute I stepped outside the shop, it stopped raining.

Every single time I go to a shop and I'm in a busy queue, as soon as I reach the till there is no longer a queue behind me. This happens most days.

Just stuff like that, I know I'm being paranoid or maybe it's just an energy I attract.

Anyone else?

Also get to the bus stop and just narrowly miss 3 buses passing at once, then have to wait for ages.

I used to think so but I think I doom prophesied and therefore only noticed the crappy stuff.
If you look for the good stuff you might find there is more of it than you realise.

These things happen to everyone. All the time.

You’ll be happier if you focus on the times nice “lucky” things happen to you.

Wisdomtoothpain · 30/07/2025 17:44

True, maybe it's just my outlook..

Try to focus on two or three really nice things each day and see how that makes you feel.

It can be small things like seeing a lovely sunrise or sunset. Or finding a favourite old film on TV or really enjoying a nice cup of tea and toast.

Life can often be hard but there are lovely things too.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 30/07/2025 17:48

There is a theory that such inconveniences are a way of keeping you out of real harm's way somehow. So the time it took you to buy the umbrella means you didn't get hit by some twat cycling on the pavement. I'm a bit of a pessimist, but I can get behind this way of looking at things .....

VenusClapTrap · 30/07/2025 17:48

No. I think I’m very lucky. I’m a glass half full person.

BakingMuffins · 30/07/2025 17:49

Those things aren’t bad luck.

Medlar · 30/07/2025 17:51

You're just focusing on the negative. If you had formed the belief about yourself that you were an unusually lucky person, you would notice the small things that supported that view. It would make no difference whatsoever to what actually happened in your life, only to your view of yourself.

I know exactly what you mean. When it's literally every day, every week... Sometimes I feel cursed and I know it sounds ridiculous but that's how it feels

I grew up on a council estate. One of my parents was healthy and had a relatively well paid job. I am healthy and have a good brain so I could go to university and get a professional job. I have 2 healthy children who have been successful so far and I am confident in their abilities to manage life. We live in a lovely village and have steady employment. If life is a game of chance, I rolled a 5. Had I been born to millionaires, it might have been a 6. But it might not because I could have been born unhealthy, been unloved etc etc. but I could have rolled a 2: been born in the 3rd world, been orphaned, have lived through an invasion etc.
I am very grateful for my good luck and I get on with the bad things in life when they happen.
