I went with Boxt for air con because I wanted to avoid the fuckery and shenanigans doing it the more traditional way of finding an independent company...
So far:
Booked it for date 1 - they confirmed it, then called to change the date 2 working days later.
Day before that date, called, 'engineers van has broken down, we need to rearrange to date 3.'
Date 3 - we're to be ready for 7am, which means our bed needed dismantling the night before to ensure space (small room, large bed), so I slept on the sofa (or, didn't.. ugh) and himself slept on the mattress (I can't sleep on a mattress on the floor due to my disabilities)..
7.15am, text from the engineer 'Sorry, I've got a flat tyre, I might get there this afternoon or maybe we can do tomorrow'...
Text back saying we would really prefer today given the rearrangements and impact this has on us. Silence.
8am. Air con unit is delivered by courier - filling up my hall (now means I can't get my wheelchair out of my living room).
8.15. Electricians arrive - they can do their bit and piss off, which they do swiftly, but they can't promise that an engineer to install will actually show up...
9am - original engineer says he's called Boxt to see if they can send out someone else as he can't get his tyre done today... apparently.
10am - we call Boxt, they've heard nothing from the engineer at all, they can see (see!) if they can send someone out tomorrow... is that OK? Well not really but what choice do I have?!
So I have the electrics installed, and an air con system in my hallway, I can't go to bed tonight either, and we go through this fucking rigmarole tomorrow - not a convenient day as I've an 8 hour WFH shift to do, for which I need to have slept well and be on the ball from 2pm to 10pm and after 0 hours kip on the sofa and up from 7am, theres fat chance of that!
Would I be unreasonable to ask Boxt for a discount given this has not been the swift and hassle free installation they market it as?!
