I think the site was much better in 2008 in terms of content and the format etc

For instance back circa 2008 it was much easier to read the latest comments underneath a video - now even trying to read ‘latest’ comments is difficult to do!!

I don't understand how it's difficult to see the latest comments. You just have to click sort by and newest first?

2008 is oddly specific. Your complaint about the comments section sound perfectly valid though- have you thought of contacting them and asking that it’s changed in a future update?

I used to love YouTube in that era though! No adverts and I remember there was a ‘video response’ option. It was a smaller place.

2008 was the first time I ever used YouTube! But even then I didn’t have a phone sophisticated enough to watch the videos - I could only read the comments

YouTube in that era was fab wasn’t it - so much fun!

I was wondering what the end game of YouTube is- it's chock full of dreadful videos of people at concerts (for example). Is humanity just going to keep uploading more and more crap which will be there... forever? It's great that it's an egalitarian site for all to post on but the flip side is the mountains of crap videos, preserved for all eternity.

That's really odd, I can do it whether it's on my phone/tablet/pc.

See, that's not what YouTube is for me. I use it to watch old documentaries/ TV series that I never saw the first time or that I want to see again (when not available elsewhere. I also use it to watch interesting video podcasts and stuff like that. Don't think I've ever watched an influencer or read a YouTube comment in my life!

yeah I use it a lot for this purpose as well

first I saw was 6 months old and couldn’t load ‘latest comment’ iyswim

Probably better way back. I remember getting to watch loads of documentaires that were not on the tv anymore. Or foreign tv shows.
Due to the algorithm you barely get to see any new videos unless your subscribed to a channel.

All it does is push videos you have already seen on you. Dont know about the comment section as ibdpnt go on there lol.

I used it to watch the Crimewatch UK series from the beginning! The series circa 1984/85 were so different from later series I wish they’d bring it back !
