What age for a mobile phone?

Interested to hear, what age do you think is appropriate for kids having a mobile phone?

On mn kids are well into their teens before they get phones, but that bears no resemblance to my rl experiences. My dc got phones during covid and were 8 and 9, and they were some of the last in their class to get them.
