Worried about cats I’m cat sitting

Hi I’ve had a couple of cat sitting jobs for the same girl. She has two cats. They are fed twice a day. One auto feeder biscuits then I come in the night for one sachet of wet food.

they always always seem hungry still after eating. The female cat always hangs on round the boys bowl to eat what’s left.

they coats are shiny and they seem happy. However I can feel the male cats spine when stroking him and he does look very slim.

maybe my cat is fat I don’t know. I just know that they do always always seem hungry.

Some cats are just naturally thin. Ours is a greedy bugger who will just eat and eat if we let him. He finishes his own food then starts on the dogs! He’s very, very thin. Looks half starved compared to most other cats. He’s been to the vets who said he is very thin (not emaciated) but otherwise fit and healthy.

Sounds fine. I can feel both my cats’ spine (and one of them is a bit fat).

Do cats get worms?

I'm not a cat owner but perhaps there's a reason he is so skinny.
If they were hungry they would just catch birds or mice surely but maybe there is another reason.

Cats are known liars. They will always swear down that they haven't been fed, even to the person who just fed them.

Don't worry about their weight unless they've suddenly lost loads while you've been looking after them. That's for your friend to judge.

I think we are soo used to fat cats that normal size cats look skinny! My bengal is very slim and only 3kg, but vet said she is perfect. I also have a chunk who is 4kg, but her body shape is a cube 🤣

We have a Siamese who is the perfect size according to the vets and she looks lean , according to the vet I saw last week most cats ( and dogs) are overweight now and that means people look at normal sized animals and think they are thin .

You can feel the spine in two of my three cats.

the other one is a fat git.

all will swear blind they have not been fed when one of my kids fed them five mins ago.

You’re supposed to be able to feel their spines

This is why people should only employ professional pet sitters rather than people who think because they have a cat they can look after others properly 🙄

Thanks guys for your helpful replies 💕 my girl is an actual chonk she is on a diet. Her dad was feeding her treats like I don’t know what so I stopped buying them.
