Hi all
I have vaped for a good few years now and really keen to stop for good, after finding out that I had HPV and moderate abnormal cells that needed LLETZ treatment. The consultant had told me that if I remain vaping, my immune system will stay low and there will be less chance of me clearing the infection naturally.
I really do not want to continuously have HPV positive smears or more treatments in the future - or even worse, risk getting cervical cancer.
DP had recently started smoking again. For around a month or so. He said it was stress (there was some stressful moments etc!).
After my treatment, I told him that I was giving up nicotine to clear the infection and he said that he would stop smoking also, so we were doing it together. This is also because DP smoking can trigger an urge for me to do it myself.
I had said, thats great, because the chances I have HPV, he also carries it too, so if he stops, his infection will go away too and reduce risk even more so.
He lasted 3 days.
There was a "stressful" day and all of a sudden, he said he was off to the shops for cigarettes. He is now smoking a pack a day, not even hiding it as such and shows no signs of stopping it again.
AIBU to feel a bit let down by this?
I know I cant stop him as he's an adult, but I thought for the sake of my health, he might be in solidarity with me and at least try a little bit harder?
