Should this have been taken off my final pay?

I have just left a nursery role and got my final pay. A deduction came out for a ‘training fee’ for £50. Which I believe was from when I did first aid training. Nothing in my contract about this. Should they have taken it from my pay?

If it’s not in your contract that training is to be repaid if you leave within a certain time then no, and I would be challenging them

Unless there is something in the terms of your contract permitting this deduction, and you have not signed something separately to authorise it, then it’s likely to be an unlawful deduction from your pay. Challenge.

CFs! Unless it's a generic first aid cert, which us useful to you when applying for other jobs. Doubt it though as they're ten a penny. Aren't they normally provided for free, as essential.part of training.
