Worried about laparoscopy, any stories?

So basically I have been advised by my consultant to have an laparoscopy due to intense pain since the birth of my last child 20 months ago.

An ultrasound did reveal a chocolate cyst and possible endometriosis tissue (sonographer said this).

The consultant hasn’t actually said I have endometriosis but I have read that a chocolate cyst is linked to endometriosis.

I am abit worried about the procedure and the possible scarring on my belly, silly I know as I have stretch marks on my belly from my kids lol.

I was hoping to have another child and I have just read the potential side effects about damage to the womb etc so it does make me abit anxious.

Any advice/ stories welcome x

I had a laparoscopy quite a few years ago. The scarring was tiny - a small crescent beside my belly button. An ovarian cyst was found and removed. I had the same procedure a few years later - another cyst, burst that time. I went on to have four children.

please don’t worry OP - there are risks with any invasive procedure but in this case I think they are very very small.

I've had three, all to investigate endometriosis and while they were in there they lasered away as much as they could.

The scars are incredibly minimal, even with mine where they had to make two more punctures once they found out the endo was in one of my tubes. They're about a cm long, if that, and fade really well. One was even in my bellybutton so it's not visible.

I had a healthy normal pregnancy after my three surgeries, believe it or not I conceived 4wk after the most recent one and was absolutely fine. They did monitor me to make sure everything was okay and the baby was in the right place. But it was fine.

If it's endo they're likely to be looking all around your womb, not really inside it, I think. But check by all means. They're very straightforward procedures, two of mine I was up and about within a few days (bloated though) and the third was harder as I had an infection, but as far as surgeries go they're one of the easier ones. You'll be great :)
