To have stopped myself on Sunday doing something utterly stupid ?

BradleyGorman · 22/07/2025 09:02

On Sunday I started thread on here feeling very down.

On Sunday my mental health was so bad I was going to go on my old primary school reunion website and write something utterly stupid and disrespectful because I hated my primary school. I’m so glad I didn’t on many levels. In the current climate, this could’ve had so many repurcussions

instead I adopted better coping mechanisms

Thank you to everyone who supported me.

im posting really because im in a better headspace now and the stupidity of what I was going to do actually makes me laugh

Well done, It's so easy to get into a downward spiral. I'm also working at not getting myself into those, abd whole I have very good reasons not to end things, getting dragged into a cyclone on depression doesn't lead anywhere good at all

RantzNotBantz · 22/07/2025 09:22

Excellent! Well done OP, and I hope your success in coping so well boosts your mood and confidence further - an upward spiral.

Have a good week!

Aw I agree it’s so easy to get dragged down if you’re not careful isn’t it ?

Thanks so much for responding really means a lot

Congratulations on realising you were going to do something you would regret, and on not doing it, both actions show a good degree of self-awareness and self-care. I hope you do something nice for yourself to celebrate, even if it's a quiet coffee in a pretty place. Well done you!

I didn’t see your previous thread so obviously didn’t post anything but I’d like to thank you for this one. It is so nice of you to take the time come back and say that the responses you got helped you and that you’re feeling better now. It’s cheered up a stressful morning that started at 4am.

Thanks so much - that’s helped be a lot saying I had a lot of self awareness etc in not doing it - I’ll definitely reward myself by having coffee somewhere !

I think I responded on your previous thread. I'm jet lagged now after travelling so might have you confirmed.

If it's you I'm really glad you are in a more positive place now. I was quite worried for a while

Some times this nest of vipers can really help. Glad you’re feeling better x

I'm really pleased you're feeling better.
It's OK to hate your old school. I think many people had bad school experiences and it can feel like it haunts you.
But it's much better to try and think forward as you have done. I hope you're able to seek counselling if you think it might help your childhood trauma? X

I hated my primary school. Some of the teachers were truly awful.
I can understand why you wanted to write something on their website and I'm glad you didn't.

However, later in life I got a job in my old primary school (the head was still the same and a couple of teachers) and I went in there and, with others, changed the culture. It was a really cathartic experience and I was finally able to move on.

So you could do that...😉

Or as others suggest, treat yourself to something nice instead!

Hey OP, so glad you are feeling better now : )

By the way, your feelings are valid - I also hated my highschool but we can leave it all in the past and learn from the negativity.

Enjoy you afternoon xl
