To say something to my colleague

She was itching her legs today and had huge, red bites all along. They looked extremely extremely similar to bed bug bite photos I’ve seen and in the same kind of tracking. She said they were ridiculously itchy. I didn’t want to sound rude when she said she didn’t know what they were so I didn’t say anything but is it rude to suggest they look like bed bug bites? I’m worried she’ll bring them into work if it is.

You could try having a conversation with her, and asking where/when she got bitten with a little sympathy. If its on her legs she could have been walking through long grass and getting bitten that way.

I did do that, I said have you been on grass etc but come to think of it, it really looked like bed bugs and some were higher up on her legs too

I guess the time would have been when she commented! Maybe tomorrow ask her how they are now, and say you had similar when you had bed bugs and found antihistamines helped short term but you had to do x to get rid of them (and say what you did)?

I’d probably suggest a trip to the GP rather than trying to diagnose something myself.

Does she have pets? Could they be flea bites?

I’ve not had them, I’ve just seen photos and they were the same, same sort of pattern too

So worry, completely misread that speed reading! Maybe try asking how she’s doing, does she know what has caused it and maybe offer a second set of eyes scouring the internet for ideas?

I don’t think she can bring bed bugs in with her, I don’t think it works like that.
