To think it's normal to be this sweaty?!

I sweat a lot in this heat and always try to wear cotton clothing, but after a few hours of being on my feet at work or just pottering about, I feel like I smell!!! I am currently wearing 2 outfits a day and need to shower twice a day to keep myself fresh (I normally only shower once a day). Is this a normal in this UK summer heat, if you don't have aircon? I'm in my late 30s... Could it be hormonal?! I'm just really aware of how I smell like I've done a gym workout after a few hours of moving about at the mo!! Aibu? Is this normal?!

In my experience, that’s not normal, no. It could well be hormonal or a health issue of some kind, but it might just be some people are more prone to sweating than others?

NewbieYou · 19/07/2025 20:11

Sounds like you need better deodorant tbh

TeenLifeMum · 19/07/2025 20:13

It’s not normal for me but I’m not a sweaty person. Basic deodorant and showers every other day unless I’ve exercised are fine.

ThatsABitExcessive · 19/07/2025 20:15

No its not normal. I’m in my 40s and rarely feel sweaty. I don’t even wear deodorant if I’m not going out and I don’t smell

Theunamedcat · 19/07/2025 20:18

Bar soap in your pits exfoliate and up your deodorant game

Also hydrate more im less stinky when I drink water

ColinRobinsonsFart · 19/07/2025 20:19

Are you on blood pressure medication or medication like duloxetine? I am on both and I am dripping!

MaxineHarper · 19/07/2025 20:20

I am a sweaty person and feel sweaty in 30C with no air con. I’d shower in the morning and have fresh clothes. Then I’d shower again in the evening as I’d be sweaty by then. But I wouldn’t smell during the day with those fresh cotton or linen clothes and Anti-perspirant.

It’s perfectly normal to sweat in 30C. Don’t be ridiculous, just because you don’t sweat. Most people do when it is warm!

Titsywoo · 19/07/2025 20:46

I have been sweating constantly over the last few weeks! I can't tell if it is due to peri-menopause or the weather but I smell all the time even shortly after a shower and deodorant and I feel like a have a layer of sweat all over unless I am in an air conditioned room.

Titasaducksarse · 19/07/2025 20:51

I get sweaty quickly and shower twice a day...actually that's quite normal throughout the year.
I hate groin sweat in particular. I'm self conscious but partner thinks it's in my head. I know it isn't as gym leggings or knickers smell.

Shar270 · 19/07/2025 21:18

Cotton isn't great if you're sweaty as it retains moisture. I'd wear something else. Also I recommend Trust deoderant if you smell, it's really good and was recommended by someone on here. It isn't normal for me to be that sweaty indoors, walking up a hill in the heat then yes, but not from being indoors pottering around. I do find that larger people tend to sweat a lot more, not saying you're larger! but DH is and sweats much more than me.

Bitzee · 19/07/2025 21:34

It’s perfectly normal to be sweaty in 30 degree heat. What’s not normal is to smell when you showered thar morning and put on clean clothes. Any chance you’re being paranoid? If you really are properly whiffy then it’s likely a sign something isn’t right somewhere whether it’s your deodorant, how you’re washing or even doing your laundry.

yakkity · 19/07/2025 21:52

It’s not only been hot but also humid. So yes. I’ve been two times a day showering too lately

DonnaBanana · 19/07/2025 21:54

It’s the humidity! You might need to change clothes more often to be honest. It can’t get much worse than the smell after a hour at the bums and tums meeting Im still going to it smells like a cross between a hospital canteen and a wet market.

FloofyBird · 19/07/2025 22:00

I dont know is it normal for you? I'm quite sweaty and am a bit physical in my job so get a bit soggy some days like my top will be wet and waistband, bra band etc. today I barely did anything and was sweaty because it's just been so humid and muggy.

FunnyCrabDance · 19/07/2025 22:06

I think if your someone that feels the heat, as am I, then feeling hot, sweaty and showering twice a day in summer is absolutely normal.
I like mitchum deoderant and that seems to stop underarm odours for me, but feet, groin, chest, back and scalp all feel gross after a full day of work (my job is physical which doesnt help either).

Tiredofwhataboutery · 19/07/2025 22:09

I think it’s normal to be sweaty. It’s how your body deals with the heat. Wear linen though cotton clings there’s a line to kill a Mockingbird the ladies all bathed before lunch. And 3 o’clock naps by nightfall they were like soft tea cakes for state by layers of sweat and sweet talcum I think in the heat a quick wash at lunch and fresh deodorant really helps.

Puppyteeth · 19/07/2025 22:11

I am sweating a lot. I know for me it’s because I’ve put on weight. When I am 9 stone I don’t sweat much at all. I’m sadly heavier than that at present. Some people do just sweat more and I have a friend who actually had some treatment to his arm pits as he sweated profusely and it helped but that was a proper medical condition. A very slim lady at work (size 6) smells a lot and it appears to be because she sweats but doesn’t wash her clothes as keeps them in the office so keeps putting on smelly clothes and she just smells. Are you washing your clothes regularly and with an effective detergent? Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Shenmen · 19/07/2025 22:14

Bar soap, so much better than liquid.
Mitchum deodorant
If out and smelling I try and have a wash and then use handgel. It takes the smell away.
Mine 2
Is definitely hormonal

SweatyBettyAgain · 20/07/2025 19:39

Thanks everyone. Having read all the replies I conclude that I am just a sweaty person, and it seems there are some of us in this camp. I do exfoliate, but haven't tried bar soap, as I tend to use liquid shower gel... Will give bar soap a try!
It's the crotch and foot sweat that I hate. I will also up my water intake!!! I am terrible at staying hydrated when hot, as I forget to drink at work!!!

Thanks all ❤️
