Just putting something on YouTube for DD and although the account is signed out, the recommendations are all about how to deal with a narcissist, ten ways a narcissist manipulates you… etc etc. I haven’t been watching these or similar and DD is 2. Does this mean DH has been watching these somewhere to have been recommended so many? Even though the account is signed out?

We use YouTube signed out on our tv (simply because I can’t remember the login) and it knows who/what we watch every week, recommends their new vids even though obviously not subscribed to anyone as not signed in on an account.

@Foreverm0re thanks. I feel sick and confused about it.

Yeah it still knows what you have watched.

Aj100t · 15/07/2025 15:36

@Foreverm0re underneath each video it says ‘four months’ or ‘five months’ etc. Do you know what that means?

That usually is the period that the video was uploaded by the creator.

What has upset you about it?

@SeaShellsSanctuary1 well presumably he thinks I’m a narcissist and/or I’m controlling

Is there anyone else in his life who might fit that bill? Family? Co-worker? It might not necessarily be about you.

SerendipityJane · 15/07/2025 15:54

YouTube is owned by Google.

fount · 15/07/2025 15:55

If you look, you can see a history of videos viewed as well as when they were viewed. I've had things pop up in my history that I never actually watched, though. If you hover over a thumbnail and it autoplays (without sound) that will sometimes till show up in your history.

This was my first thought too.

I wouldn't necessarily think that. Might he thinks that he is possibly narcissistic and looking into it. The Internet is full of silly quizzes which will give you a label. Have you ever suggested he is is narcissistic prompting him to view these

That just means the video was uploaded four or five months ago etc.

Why do you think he thinks you’re a narcissist or controlling?

This seems like such a wild over reaction to some youtube videos on a signed out account tbh.

Foreverm0re · 15/07/2025 16:30

Have you looked at the actual search history? Just click the search button and it will show past searches, even when logged out, unless they’ve been cleared.

Maybe a classic narcissist reaction 🤪
