I’ve taken to leaving my phone DND most of the time.
I have my closest family & friends, school office etc in my favourites so they always get through. Anyone who phones twice in succession gets through. If my kids go to a sleepover or are in someone elses care I add them to my favourites for the time they are with them.
I work for myself from home so rarely get phone calls regarding work. They usually email or leave a message.
I just got so fed up of constant texts, whatsapps etc, alerts. I find it such a distraction.
Does anyone else do that?

I didn't even know you could! I'll have to look at my phone now!

EmeraldRoulette · 15/07/2025 01:17

I can't do this because of being mum's emergency contact through a telecare alarm. Any call centre in the country could contact me.

Drove me mad for ages, trying to fiddle with Settings so I didn't suddenly get a message about my gas bill at 6 o'clock in the morning!

Then I discovered that on iPhone, it's buried in "focus". You can change settings in there. So now I can have all messages silenced at a particular time but any phone call can still get through.

I think I actually posted on here how annoying it was to have to turn off stuff every night but now it's just set automatically. Just in case that helps anyone.

@EmeraldRoulette apologies if this doesn't apply, but I saw they are changing Telecare(to digital, maybe? I forget, I half heard it in passing)

Just thought I'd comment in case it helps, if anything needs to be updated for changed for your mum.

It’s very liberating! If you can.
