How to keep low profile when of work sick?

This.
I live in a small community where its common to bump into people from work.
I'm in my 2nd week of sickness for reasons that only my manager knows.
Have been getting messages from colleagues fishing to know what's wrong abs I'd just rather not talk about it. Same when I see them.
How can I just disappear till I'm better?

If you're sick, you're likely staying home. If they're coming to your home to question you, you need to report them to your employer.

Being off work sick doesn’t mean you have to be housebound 24/7.

Can’t you reply to colleagues saying that your illness is a private matter and you don’t want to discuss it? Can you also get your manager to tell them that they know the details, emphasise that iit is private and to not pester you?

This.. some things need someone to rest and stay away from people, other illnesses like bad mental health might improve if people go out and about, or injuries that need exercise etc

If you drive I would just drive to another nearby town to do essential shopping etc.

If you’re off work for something that will keep you housebound then I suppose you don’t really need to worry.

if you’re off for something like MH problems or bereavement etc then you absolutely should be getting out the house and if anyone asks you just tell them you’re off work and that’s the end of the discussion.

i hope you’re feeling better soon x

It's really odd that your colleagues are fishing to find out what's wrong.

I was signed off for a month earlier this year and the doctor told me to be out and about and as active as possible, and insisted I was not to sit about watching TV.

Can you reply to anyone fishing with "I'd rather keep my business to myself, but don't worry HR are in the loop".
