My husband clears his throat all the time - before he speaks, mid sentence etc I can hear him doing it from so far away it is driving me mad and I really find it hard to concentrate on what's he is saying as so irritated

my son is doing it too

my mum just called and she was clearing her throat so many times

im literally surrounded by throat clearers!

I actually feel like I need hypnotherapy so I don't focus on it whilst trying to have a conversation!

whats worse is that husband has been doing nothing about it and it's been like this for years!!

No suggestions but total sympathy as my DH is exactly the same and it irritates me incredibly! I have to eat food super fast and leave the table as him doing it constantly while he eats drives me crackers! He does it while not eating too but the constant throat clearing during meals is so aggravating.

This can be a symptom of acid reflux you may want to suggest he visits the GP if it’s that bad.

(writes a chronic throat clearer who would love nothing more than for it to go away!)

Thanks - I've told him to speak with a doctor

I suggested nasal drip / reflux etc I'm going to have to seriously speak to him again

he can't have one sentence without throat clearing (it's mucus not a tic) he also spits up mucus

he is very fit and healthy although likes a drink most weekends!

Sympathies! DP does it every time there’s a stressful situation…in his eyes anyway. Taking the wrong road, phone call from his mums GP, train cancelled and the throat clearing starts. I kind of understand it but its such an annoying response and if I mention it he hotly denies it.

I feel your pain OP!
