Usual summer complaint - neighbours crap music

I know, I know it’s done to death. Just want to rant. Sitting in back garden with a cool drink and a good book.

neighbors pumping out the worst music I have ever heard! Why do they think about ten houses around them want to listen to their taste in music?? I will go inside and get my noise cancelling headphones. But it’s just so selfish. And awful. The music is just awful🫣😂.

It will be stuck in my head now - ride like the wind, to be to be free again. Holy shit! Do people have no shame!

What’s so dire is that they play “music” that sounds like angry junk, if they were playing Beethoven or Fleetwood Mac I could handle it. It’s their musical philistinism that is mind boggling.

JG24 · 12/07/2025 13:23

I can't believe people are so arrogant that they think an entire estate wants to listen to their music. We have the same but thankfully they've just switched it off.

SleepingisanArt · 12/07/2025 13:27

I feel your pain! Here there's a family (not neighbours but in a cul-de-sac off our cul-de-sac) who play their music so loudly you can hear it hundreds of feet away. Plus the woman thinks she's Adele and sings with a microphone at other times. She might be an 'entertainer ' (I use the term loosely) but we don't all need (or want) to hear her practicing!

KatiaMendosa · 12/07/2025 13:29

Did you deliberately put that song into my head OP?!

Bellyblueboy · 12/07/2025 13:31

at least I don’t have karaoke to contend with😩😩

i can’t actually concentrate on my book because I am trying to work out if it is Caribbean queen or caribo queen!

the noise cancelling headphones are not working. And the music is getting worse - we are now in the summer of 69!!

I sincerely apologise

but there ain’t no use in complaining, when I’ve got a job to do!

My neighbour sings Adele, badly. But I don't like them full stop so they could sing Taylor Swift and it would still annoy me.

One has started played retro indie music which I'm enjoying. Discovered I liked an Arctic Monkeys song that way. Had to get my teen to Shazam it over the fence.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 12/07/2025 13:35

There's some kind of sod's law that your neighbour's too loud music is never anything you'd want to hear.

I was annoyed by some loud music last night... then I realised it was actually Oasis at Heaton Park 😂I'll let them off, especially as they do have a finish time.

Bellyblueboy · 12/07/2025 13:38

I am now deeply concerned about a young lady who was born in the wagon of a traveling show. Life is not panning out how she had hoped. I am hooked. David Nichols latest novel can’t compete - not with social injustice and lost childhoods.

I would not be able to cope if i could hear neighbours’ music. It’s so obnoxious.

WaltzingWaters · 12/07/2025 13:53

I’m so glad the neighbours in my little village are all very old and I don’t have to deal with this!

I think you might live where I live…

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/07/2025 13:55

Some inconsiderate bastards on my estate were still playing their music at 4am when I woke & opened my window to see if they’d finished.

KickboxingWanker · 12/07/2025 13:55

My neighbours have absolute 80s on. It’s my era so quite enjoying it to be honest.
sorry you have to listen to crap though.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 12/07/2025 13:57

I'm quite liking their playlist to be honest 🙈

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 12/07/2025 13:57

OP, your neighbours do seem to have something of a 'supermarket radio' taste in music! Noise cancelling headphones all the way!

(It's quiet as the grave around my way. All my neighbours have gone out for the day, so it's just me making the noise).

Bryan Adams? At least they're playing decent music.

I know what you mean 😆! I’m pretty sure the first song they referenced is Ride Like The Wind by Christopher Cross. If it was that, as far as I’m concerned it’s a classic.
Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves by Cher was definitely referenced too and that’s also a classic as far as I’m concerned.
Caribbean Queen (Billy Ocean) is tolerable but I’ve heard Summer of 69 too many times.

Throwmoneyatit · 12/07/2025 14:13

On my road, there is a husband and wife who play 'coupley' music pretty loud. Think... Islands in the stream, Don't go breaking my heart, you're the one that I want etc.

They sing to each other (correct verses and it does sound like they try very hard to sing - high notes especially are very clearly attempted) and then the baby talk/smooshy talk starts between them.

'Baby I'm so hot.'
'Let me get you a drink baby girl.'
'Baby do you need anything doing?'
'Baby boy, massage my feet'
'Yes baby girl, put your feet in my lap'
'Oh baby girl/baby boy kiss me'

The only time they seem to like each other is during and immediately after singing their 'duets' in the garden. The rest of the time she screams at him. His response? 'I'm so sorry baby girl, what can i do for you'.

They have been known to do a bit of dirty dancing but I can't see their garden from my house. I am very good friends with their immediate neighbours who see and hear everything 😬😂

Unbelievably cringey but very entertaining.

TheWisePlumDuck · 12/07/2025 14:33

We've had awful neighbours that insisted on pumping their 90's techno the moment any sun appeared for the last few years.

I've never been the type of cunt who believes everyone else on the estate should marvel at my musical taste.

However I am enjoying a bit of revenge at the moment. Ds has never really been interested in music, but recently got obsessed with a kpop film on netflix. He has autism so the obsession has led to him playing some songs on repeat.

He usually does this on headphones, but our lovely elderly neighbours are on holiday for the next two weeks, so I've encouraged him to listen to it, loudly, with all the windows open (only as long as techno prick is blasting his). Techno prick has voiced his loud mouthed displeasure at kpop repeatedly for the last week.

Techno prick also has a young daughter. She's been arguing with him for the last hour that she wants 'her' music on too. Guess which songs she wants?

That soda pop song is really catchy 👌

Our neighbours have incredibly shit taste in music.

It's flats with an HMO set up and this afternoon has been particularly bad as the people in the front and back room both have their windows open, are both blasting out shit music (probably so they can't hear each other) and I have the pleasure of hearing both in my living room clashing really badly.

Hopefully they'll go out soon.

Trustyourinnervision · 12/07/2025 16:30

Sorry OP sounds exactly like my ‘housework’ playlist - I’ll turn it down.

Bettyfromhomeroom · 12/07/2025 16:37

My neighbours play heart radio daily from about 9am-9pm, not blasting by any means but sometimes I just want to sit in the garden without having to listen to the same songs on repeat every day.

😂 it has thankfully stopped. Just so awful. Not my taste at all.

Not sure why ‘Jim and Margo’ thought I wanted to listen to it though. Very personal taste!

when their house alarm went off for four hour last week it was actually less irritating! But as they broadcast to the neighborhood, they have friends in low places so probably best not to approach them!

I had Romanian neighbours for a while, honestly, perfectly nice people, now moved on. But OMG, I sincerely apologise to all Romanian mumsnetters in advance, but honestly? The music? Really? Surely as a nation you can do better. Or if not better at least play it at very low volume or through headphones.

🙁Sorry again.
