What you raise this with the doctors surgery

I have a health conditions for which I receive medication. Recently I phoned the surgery because I have been vey unwell. I was expecting a call from the doctor, instead of which I received a prescription for the same medication.

By luck this week was due an annual Blood test and BP check. The practitioner told me I needed to see a doctor immediately. The doctor asked lots of questions and told me to stop taking the BP meds as my blood pressure was too low.

Should I complain to the Practice?

This is why the NHS is struggling. Don’t complain.

Given you already had an appointment with the GP this week to look at your blood pressure, I’m not sure an extra appointment sounds entirely necessary - you already had time booked in.

Not getting attention immediately for any issue doesn’t mean they have failed - if the condition / issue doesn’t require immediate treatment. It doesn’t sound like yours did.

Think how many calls a day they will give getting from people feeling unwell who they need to triage to ensure they’re seeing the most urgent.

I’d also add - you don’t even sound that bothered, so why complain?

Presumably this all happened at the same surgery? Did you tell the GP that you saw what had happened?

The doctor who gave the prescription would probably not know about the annual check. I do think that a phone call would give them the opportunity to ask questions.

Thank you for all those who replied. I decided not to complain, but will be more assertive in future when I feel I am not listened too.

Further tests have revealed what is wrong with me. All my meds have been stopped and I have new ones.
