Too hot to sleep and my mind is now in over drive…. What’s keeping anyone else awake??

Maybe the fact that it's not even bedtime yet!

PopThatBench · 11/07/2025 23:22

Top tip, get yourself a T-shirt, soak it under the cold tap, ring it out and lay it on your back/side while you’re in bed… absolute game changer for me and my little girl this week!

EmberR · 11/07/2025 23:23

My husband and son are fast asleep?! I’m just lying here and got myself into a state

lazyarse123 · 11/07/2025 23:25

I'm staying up as long as I can. Last night I lay there for 2 hours wringing wet. It's no fun.

gottakeeponmoving · 11/07/2025 23:25

Too early for bed for me. Why don't you get up and watch tv for a while?

tillyandmilly · 11/07/2025 23:27

Can’t go to be this early ! 🤣 although I can start to feel a breeze through my windows hopefully by the time I go to bed will have cooled down!

Isittimeformynapyet · 11/07/2025 23:28

Similar to @PopThatBench I recommend soaking a sheet in the shower, wringing it out and sleeping under/on that. By the morning it'll be bone dry.

I use a fan too, which makes it really cool and also provides white noise to drown out the effing seagulls at 4am 😃

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 11/07/2025 23:31

Grab a chiller bock from the freezer and hug it to you like a hot water bottle!

EmberR · 11/07/2025 23:33

I have the fan on and windows open but yikes it’s sticky.

Anyone else find they over think when they’re over tired? I am feeling a bit sad about some personal stuff and it just is going round and round in my mind

No, I'm never warm, wearing a vest top to bed with light pyjama bottoms is a rare treat. I usually wear fleece pyjamas.
I know I'm in the minority. DH is dying from the heat.
I apologise I missed your update. I hope you're okay.

TweedleDumbAndTweedleDeeeeeeeee · 11/07/2025 23:39

Yup. Time for cola callipo lolly. Back downstairs to the kitchen I go. I am so bloody knackered. My eyes feel heavy but it is too way too hot to sleep. I think it’s meant to cool down by 5am. 💤

EmberR · 11/07/2025 23:39

@EmeraldShamrock000 thank you for asking. I’m OK just sometimes life gets grrrrr

@PopThatBench omg thank you! Was lying in bed reading this thread and saw your comment. Just soaked a pj top and got it over me now 🤣 definitely helped 🥵

It certainly does! Hope you manage to get some sleep.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/07/2025 23:41

Silence is a bitch when you're stressed.
Can you play some calming music to help you relax?

HistoricalOrchard · 11/07/2025 23:44

Cold shower, windows open, fan on. It’s ok.

Sohot2025 · 11/07/2025 23:50

I am so bloody hot - my usually comfortable bed is so uncomfortable my husband's CPAP is annoying me and I was getting myself into a right bad mood.

Decided to get up for a bit the dog and I are enjoying the downstairs fan I'm snuggling the ice packs and just had a cold snack.

I'll be even more bad mood when the 3 year old wakes up at about 4 .. yay.

forthistimeonly · 11/07/2025 23:52

Im in SE coast. I'm under a duvet as it's not that hot. 23 I think.

youreactinglikeafunmum · 11/07/2025 23:57

Yeah me

Scrolling on tiktok and mn isnt helping but its bloody hot

LittleGlowingOblong · 12/07/2025 00:00

A piece of advice I was given - if you have a fridge big enough and a pillow small enough - is to put your pillow in a bag and store it in the fridge during the day.

Travelfairy · 12/07/2025 00:00

Yep!

fridaynightbeers · 12/07/2025 00:01

I’m sleeping downstairs with the door open and a fan on. Give it two minutes and the bugs will all be crawling over my iPad screen and driving me mad 😳

Migrainesandme · 12/07/2025 00:02

Ive had a banging migraine for 2 days long wish it would piss off.
This is why i hate the summer not hate as such the heat brings them on badly.
Ive been in sunshades for 2 days.
When it stops i know it will start all over again with days of build up symptoms and some of them are awful.
Bring on winter and freezing weather.

WondererWanderer · 12/07/2025 00:04

No. Icepacks in the bed. One by your feet, one by the torso and one under the back. It's not hard to come up with this.

TheDandyLion · 12/07/2025 00:06

I presumed it would be so I haven't bothered going to bed yet. Just went and sat in the garden looking at the stars for half an hour to try to cool down.
