I'm just interested to see how many people like this weather, compared to how many hate it (me)

What is ‘this weather’, given there will be a wide range across the UK today?

caramac04 · 11/07/2025 15:36

I have found it too hot to be outside much today. I walked the dog in the woods early this morning.
Having said that, because I find it easy to use the heat as an excuse to do very little I have forced myself to have a damn good cleaning session today. Mostly because by yesterday evening I had done so little I was extremely restless.
I think it depends on your situation. Very hot and fractious babies and toddlers to care for, sticky and uncomfortable commutes, physical outdoor jobs - very difficult.
Air con in car for commute, easy on site parking, air con place of employment- not so bad.
YANBU to hate extreme heat (or cold)

Yanbu at all

Fucking boiling

TheGrimSmile · 11/07/2025 15:40

It's too hot. I like it sunny and dry but not hot hot. Roll on autumn I say!

TheGrimSmile · 11/07/2025 15:40

Also I can't sleep in the heat.

ilovesooty · 11/07/2025 15:41

Loving it.

thisisfrommathilda · 11/07/2025 15:42

Absolutely LOATHE it. Happiest in Winter.

middleagedandinarage · 11/07/2025 15:42

It's too hot, can't sleep. Feel constantly sticky and sweaty! I like dry and sunny but this is too hot for me.

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 11/07/2025 15:43

I dislike the combination of heat and humidity.

champagnetrial · 11/07/2025 15:46

I love it for me because I have a pool so can cool down. I also don't love it for me because I have just had a melanoma chopped out, so actually swings and roundabouts re: the pool thing. Also, I don't love it for the garden, which looks so sad and dry.

DaisyChain505 · 11/07/2025 15:47

33 degrees here. Absolutely hate it. I’m miserable. 10 degrees cooler and I’d be happy.

DinoLil · 11/07/2025 15:48

Hate it. Me and dog have been stuck indoors for over a week now.

Buxusmortus · 11/07/2025 15:49

I like sunny weather up to 24/25 max so I can still do things in the garden and can sleep without a fan.

Today it's 32, far too hot, got all the windows and curtains shut to keep out the heat so the house is in gloom, will open later this evening.

Staying indoors doing paperwork and sewing so still productive but the fan blows the papers around. At times like this I think about getting an aircon unit for my bedroom but part of me thinks I live in Wales so I shouldn't need to because it only lasts for a few days!

ilovesooty · 11/07/2025 15:41

Loving it.

Do you not sweat??! I hate sweating and this heat makes me sweat which makes me feel gross.

Workingonthehighway · 11/07/2025 15:51

Im a at home massage therapist my treatment room is 30 degrees I am not enjoying my job at the moment

Mancity08 · 11/07/2025 15:52

I used to luv the sun in my 20-40’s, the more the better.
Since being in my 60’s I can’t stand it , it zaps your energy, can’t sleep , don’t know what to eat because it’s too hot to cook

my ideal temp is 20*

BriefHug · 11/07/2025 15:56

hate it. I don’t function well in temperatures over 25C. And the dog has gone into some kind of self-preservation sleep mode so melodramatic that I have to keep checking she’s still breathing.

Willowskyblue · 11/07/2025 15:58

I don’t like the days but LOVE the evenings when we can sit out and eat in the garden. It’s so relaxing being out there.

RampantIvy · 11/07/2025 16:00

I prefer summer weather, but am sat inside in the shade just now after spending most of today in air conditioned buildings and vehicles.

I prefer about 25 degrees to this.

We are so desperate for rain. We have a hosepipe ban and I have just been past the reservoirs in the Pennines and am surprised that Greater Manchester hasn't already instigated a hosepipe ban. I have never seen Woodhead reservoir look so empty before.

Muffinmam · 11/07/2025 16:05

It’s the humidity.

I’m from Australia and have experienced 50 degrees Celsius weather. I’ve also experienced 40+ degrees Celsius in a house with no air-conditioning. That day was hot - but it was fine staying inside.

30+ degree Celsius is common in summer in my city and the temperature often goes to 38-40 degrees during a heatwave for an entire week. It’s fine because we have air-conditioning and ceiling fans and I drive everywhere.

It’s the humidity that is difficult. Without the humidity you can cope. But the houses in the UK are not designed for this weather. Plus it’s humid. Many of you can’t even air out your houses properly.

TheodoraCrumpet · 11/07/2025 16:05

No, ugh. My colouring is more or less white and blue, and adding red into the mix is never a happy combination, whether it's from sunburn or simply overheating. My hair is ridiculously thick, which is great for winter insulation, but not so much as a warm sweaty head covering in this weather. I'm delegating cooking duties tonight for sure.

TotallyAddictedToCoffee · 11/07/2025 16:06

I don't mind it as much now I'm 9st lighter.... but this time last year I'd have been fucking dying!!!

Dontcallmescarface · 11/07/2025 16:12

ilovesooty · 11/07/2025 15:41

Loving it.

Me too.

Myfridgeiscool · 11/07/2025 16:13

I like sunshine but not excessive heat. It’s too hot to take the dog out, unless you go at the crack of dawn or just before it gets dark. Too many flies in the kitchen when I try to cook! Other than that it’s lovely.

SaintGermain · 11/07/2025 16:15

It’s fab! We do everything very early with the horses and dogs and then have the day to ourselves and then late evening more with the horses and dogs when it’s nice and cool.

The days are very long but having a nap outdoors under cover is divine.
