to hate this weather?

I'm just interested to see how many people like this weather, compared to how many hate it (me)

OP posts:
Daffodilsarefading · 13/07/2025 07:20

No I love it.
I love wearing a summer dress and sandals with sunglasses. I love being able to sit in my garden ( not south facing.) I love being able to wash all laundry and get it dried outside in the fresh air and put away that same day.
I love seeing my garden in bloom.
I’m totally prepared for the sun. I’ll be wearing a vitamin c day cream with spf 50.
Yes I get hot, yes I have to go to work, but I prefer this to being freezing cold and having to wear lord knows how many layers of clothes in a cold office.
I love being able to go places without getting wet through or blown to bits by wind.
From the looks if it I’m not alone. Not many people plan days out on wet, windy, cold days.

Daffodilsarefading · 13/07/2025 07:22

The downside for me is having to water my garden. Would love it to rain for several hours during the night.

What is ‘this weather’, given there will be a wide range across the UK today?

Really!? It’s quite obvious what weather the OP is referring too….

totaltime123 · 13/07/2025 07:23

Its uncomfortable and with my bad back feeling even worse being back breezes.

Daffodilsarefading · 13/07/2025 07:29

The irony is that the vast majority of people I hear moaning will be planning a jolly trip to somewhere hot such as Spain. Where they will spend all day sat in blistering hot sun.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 13/07/2025 07:44

On these threads, it's always the ones that hate heat who get it so so bad, that life is unbearable. Whereas in winter SAD is just brushed under the carpet and people are told to snuggle under a blanket with a hot chocolate, or go and splash in puddles.

I actually like our seasons, I like cold crisps days, I like rain on my face, I like the heat and long sunny days. I sat under the parasol yesterday, watching the tennis. There was a lovely slight breeze which made it nicer than being indoors.

AnneLarsen · 13/07/2025 08:19

If you hate this weather, where do you live? It’s lovely here (Westcountry, by the coast) but I can see that in a city it would be unbearable. I spent yesterday on the beach, picked up some fish for the BBQ on the way home and sat outside chatting to DH and DC in the cool of the evening.

It can be a bit bleak in the winter, but in the summer I wouldn’t be anywhere else.

Champaganesupernova · 13/07/2025 08:41

I hasten to add it's lovely to wake up to blue skies and sun 🌞 I went to an indoor pool yesterday and it was so refreshing !! We went to see The Sterophonics in Cardiff on Friday where I thought I would melt , don't know how the band coped !!

Just woken to glorious sunshine streaming through the window. For most of the year it’s grey and gloomy and I can barely drag myself out of bed, but now Im itching for the neighbours to wake up so I can go and do some gardening without disturbing them.

Everything is better when it’s hot. I feel more alive.

I'm the same. I often cry when September comes. I just love hot sun..

Me too. Autumn feels like a death every year.

Im fascinated by this thread, had no idea so many people were the opposite.

Me too. I'm such a summer person that I literally can't comprehend feeling the opposite. Autumn brings such sadness for me.

Me too. Winter is so long and is relentless for weeks, unlike the heat which can never be guaranteed and lasts a couple of weeks at most.

The oppressive, permanently uncomfortable, low energy feeling that some people describe from the heat is exactly what others of us feel like for months of every year, without fail, despite costs and electric blankets etc.

Apart from laundry drying quickly, another positive we should all be able to agree on is that at least this way, everyone gets a turn at weather they like.

anotherwordforit · 13/07/2025 12:26

Summer seems to extend well into September nowadays! I like October-December for Halloween/fireworks/Christmas distractions but the January-April slog is a bit depressing.

Meanttobeworking · 13/07/2025 14:32

I can’t cope with 30+ degree heat. It makes me feel ill.

garlictwist · 13/07/2025 14:37

I get a kind of SAD post-heatwave gloom. I know I will feel it tomorrow when the heat is over. I can’t bear to watch the weather forecast and just feel so sad when I’m outside that it’s no longer hot. It feels like such a gift and jt gets taken away. I used to feel the same about snow when I was a child.

Toomanyweedsoutthere · 13/07/2025 14:46

I love it but only because I live by the sea. I wouldn't love it without daily access to a beach.

This is exactly how I feel. I couldn't have worded it better.

Sheknowsaboutme · 13/07/2025 16:41

Absolutely hate it. Its boring, i hate sitting in it, im up and down, in and out. I dont know how people tolerate it. Im an autumn girl.

love the rain!

Sheknowsaboutme · 13/07/2025 16:44

What is worse is that aperol

everytime the sun is out and y hot, my friend says “fancy an aperol?” No i dont!

its the most overrated drink known to man

Auburngal · 13/07/2025 18:38

My DM (74) her friends in their late 60s to 78 are having hot flushes. Wondering if anyone else or you know has had hot flushes past 5 days or so

not me I go out of season, I couldn’t go at this time, being near a pool doesn’t help

Countrylife2002 · 14/07/2025 16:35

I never go anywhere hot! Italy and Greece are for the winter imo!

Countrylife2002 · 14/07/2025 16:37

I can’t think of anything more hideous than sitting around a pool or on a beach in heat. And how boring - I don’t get it at all. In fact I only ever walk along the coast, I’d be bored in about 20 secs otherwise. I do sea swim too but not in hot weather .
