to hate this weather?

I'm just interested to see how many people like this weather, compared to how many hate it (me)

OP posts:
Flamingoknees · 11/07/2025 17:54

Combined with hot flushes, I've been suffering a tad. I like dry and bright, but above about 21 I am uncomfortable. Saying that I've managed an 8 mile walk in a wooded area today, and enjoyed it.
My temperature control generally is ridiculous at the moment. I'm praying it improves, as it's not a good look.

Justagirl95 · 11/07/2025 17:54

I love it! But we have AC so not affected by poor sleep and we always have somewhere cool to retreat to.

tobee · 11/07/2025 17:55

Love it; 29.9 degrees here at five to six. Love warm evenings and sitting outside. So rare.

DiscoNights · 11/07/2025 17:58

I enjoy it. I prefer it when it’s 23 degrees as opposed to the 30 degrees that it is today, but it suits me so much better than autumn or winter. I suffer terribly from SAD and find my mental and physical health to be awful in the cold dark months.

SushiDisco · 11/07/2025 17:59

I find 20-25 degrees the sweet spot where it’s warm enough to go enjoy the beach, dinner in the garden, paddling pool out etc. When I get’s higher than that it starts to get a bit sweaty and not as enjoyable!

Richiewoo · 11/07/2025 18:03

I love it at 20 degrees. Its 30 today its horrendous.

HurdyGurdy19 · 11/07/2025 18:05

I hate anything over 20 degrees, 22 at a push.

I can't get comfortable, either during the day or at night, and when it's hot, I get the runs.

My daughter hates it as well, as it plays havoc with her blood sugar levels (T1 diabetic)

PetiteBlondeDuBoulevardBrune · 11/07/2025 18:07

Snowseeker2026 · 11/07/2025 15:50

Do you not sweat??! I hate sweating and this heat makes me sweat which makes me feel gross.

I sweat more in the winter when wearing warm layers and entering the Tube for example. And it is so nice to have a quick refreshing shower when coming home and not feel cold when wet.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 11/07/2025 18:08

It’s awful. I hate it. Surely the only people who truly like it are those who don’t have to work? It’s miserable for everyone stuck indoors working without AC. The only place for this weather is by a pool or seashore with a cold drink.

discocherry · 11/07/2025 18:08

It’s not ideal but the amount of moaning from people who don’t have any health conditions, for example, is ridiculous. What do you mean you “haven’t left the house in a week”?! I’m a teacher with no air con or anything like that in a classroom full of year 6 children and windows that don’t open properly. I’m also incredibly pale. I do slightly feel like people need to just get on with it a bit.

KPPlumbing · 11/07/2025 18:14

Love, love, LOVE it!

I don't struggle with the heat at all. I've been out mountain biking all day today in 33 degrees.

I realise I'd get on well living in southern Spain. DH and I are barely switching on the tv as we're chilling out in our (shaded) garden all the time. I love living outdoors. I'm heading out there now with a cocktail 🍸

Arraminta · 11/07/2025 18:15

Just back from the States where it was hotter than here, but thanks to excellent AC everywhere, we barely noticed.

Can't bear the heated stickiness here. Have had windows closed and curtains half closed, trying to keep out the hot air and sunshine. Will open everything up late tonight, when hopefully cooler air will blow through.

Though, having lost 42lbs since last Summer I'm very pleasantly surprised that my feet and fingers no longer swell with the heat. Mounjaro is definitely the gift that keeps on giving.

AliciaLeeming · 11/07/2025 18:18

Loving it!

RampantIvy · 11/07/2025 18:25

My workplace and my car both have aircon.

Countrylife2002 · 11/07/2025 18:25

Hate it. I’ve been busy planning an aircon install which I will do in the winter, if I can find somewhere that takes credit card. I can’t do this agai my tolerance is non existent now and the dog hates it too. Also don’t leave the house post 8am and it just makes me feel really unwell.

munchingmunch · 11/07/2025 18:28

O want air con but doesn't it make the external environment hotter?

SerafinasGoose · 11/07/2025 18:30

Ifeelfat · 11/07/2025 16:42

Absolutely love it.

i live 30seconds from a nature reserve - walked the dog in the shade of the trees this morning and he played in the lake, then cycled 5 minutes down the road and had my first sea swim this year.

sometimes i miss living in a city - but not today!

Your home sounds like my idea of heaven. I've never been one for cities.

EllieRosie · 11/07/2025 18:31

I’m absolutely loving it but I live for spring and summer and loathe winter. I love the bright mornings and it still being light at 11pm.

No I’ve been busy researching and they’re very eco efficient these days . Can also heat in winter which means less need for gas boiler heating whole house . I’m sold even if it will take me a year to pay off the credit card !!

Myself and my dog will snooze the heatwaves away in our lovely cool house next summer

munchingmunch · 11/07/2025 18:34

@Countrylife2002 thanks!

So what is it - a wall-mounted or stand-alone unit? And how many did you need? (Sorry for inquisitiveness but if summers like 2022 are becoming more normal, it's something we might consider too).

In that hot July in '22, I was in hospital, immobile with a broken spine, on a deadly hot ward (with blood clots) and unable even to go downstairs and get a breath of fresh air. It was so hot that A&E were giving away free ice pops. That coupled with the compression socks was awful - and I was there for three weeks. THAT time, I complained!

Emmz1510 · 11/07/2025 18:38

It’s pretty roasting here in Scotland today too. I do love it in general, but dislike certain aspects such as trying to keep cool at night and having to travel on public transport which is just disgusting in this heat! I like to sunbathe for a while, and I love the socialising aspect like barbecues. But my favourite thing is actually sitting outside with a glass of wine when it starts to cool in the evening. Like, still pleasantly warm but more comfortable for sitting out

PassingStranger · 11/07/2025 18:38

No I love it.
I could permanently live in Summer.

ssd · 11/07/2025 18:39

I work in a shop with no air conditioning. It's horrendous.

Plantlady10 · 11/07/2025 18:41

Low 30s here today and I'm m a SAHM to a 1 and 3 year old - they are hot, tired and grumpy and my patience levels are low. I hate the parent I become in the heat! It's too hot for the garden as there is no shade, and I don't drive so we're just staying home (don't fancy a sweltering bus)

I know complaining doesn't change anything but im certainly looking forward to it cooling down a bit next week!
