I'm just interested to see how many people like this weather, compared to how many hate it (me)

OP posts:

Blimey, definitely not hot here in Sheringham, we ventured inland today as it was a bit chilly, it's probably about 19. Checked the Hive at home and it said 29.

EggnogNoggin · 12/07/2025 18:39

I make the most of it by changing my sleep pattern. Late nights, early morning, midday nap if needed/children supervised.

6am Wake up and walk in a woodland or a beach, home for big breakfast/brunch.

11-2/3pm Snooze/quiet indoor or activity with the kids during hottest part of the day.

3-5pm Outdoors play. Paddling pool for kids, book for me.

5-7pm Tea and bed for kids. Cool showers all round if needed. Late night for me to enjoy cooler temps.

Yeah, it's a bit uncomfortable, esp at night, but that's the price of the beautiful mornings and summer fun. Its only unbearably hot like this for a few weeks on the year so I make the most of it, a bit like Xmas!

Biggest downside is DH doesn't cope and gets grumpy 😆

KimberleyClark · 12/07/2025 18:41

Hate it. 30 degrees here down from 32 earlier.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 12/07/2025 18:47

I love it. We rarely get proper sunny weather. I love the sun on me. Hate the cold and feel depressed in autumn..

Best time of year autumn IMO 🍂

For me it's spring...in anticipation of summer and long bright days ahead!

anotherwordforit · 12/07/2025 18:55

I just like summer days where it is a nice normal warm. 18-23 degrees is absolutely fine. But it seems like it’s always either cold/wet or boiling late 20s/early 30s temps 😤 Then everyone says British people are never happy with the weather, no I just want some middle ground!

westcott · 12/07/2025 18:58

Looking at getting a quote for air conditioning in the house. May be a good investment as this will continue each year. Weather is ok when it’s outside 😂

User135644 · 12/07/2025 18:59

Ideal weather is 18-25 in UK. Below that and it gets chilly. Above and it's too hot.

But our homes are designed for cooler weather. And you can go outside and put a coat on in 0-17 temps.

Temps in the 30s are as bad as minus temps.

user1476613140 · 12/07/2025 19:13

It's been insufferable today at 26C. I hate this heat. Hate it.

user1476613140 · 12/07/2025 19:15

Utterly ruined my day as I have no DC today, first time in ages, and couldn't do a bike ride due to this heat.

Had to make do with watching a film.

Strawbsplease · 12/07/2025 19:19

Love it. July last year was so shit where I live. Grey clouds all month, miserable temperatures for summer.
Anyone not coping just needs to remind themselves that it’ll be dark and cold and wet and windy for approx 7 months of the year and that’ll be here before we know it.

CopperWhite · 12/07/2025 19:21

I love it. Everything dries quickly, we can wear easy clothes, no need for socks and coats, no spending money on heating just to be able to function and everyone is too hot to care about trivial shit so they are nicer.

Opposite is what I am finding...people are more crabbit because of the heat, more arguments due to being uncomfortable.

CircusofPuffins · 12/07/2025 19:33

We definitely get far more cold, dull, rainy, miserable, days in this country than nice ones, so you need to make the most of them while they last.

I've spent all afternoon today sat in a comfy chair in my back garden, sunbathing, reading and watching the birds pottering about. Pure bliss. Unless you're a person who doesn't enjoy the outdoors and never goes outside, I've no idea why you'd prefer the cold and miserable weather of autumn and winter to now.

Alltheyellowbirds · 12/07/2025 19:34

All the mentions of autumn and winter on this thread are depressing me 😭 I want this weather to last forever.

LostGhost · 12/07/2025 21:00

I hate it.

The way people get SAD in the winter...I get that in the summer to an extreme level. It makes me so depressed and anxious, my entire body just shuts down.

The lack of routine, having to wake up at 5am to walk the dog meaning I have to skip my gym sessions (i'm usually an early morning gym goer then dog walk at lunchtime), the lack of sleep, the days are endless, feeling constantly dehydrated after 3 litres of water, the dizziness, feeling devoid of any energy the minute i step outside.

The ONLY positive is that the laundry dries quickly.

I was hopeful this year as everyone says it's worse when you're overweight. Can confirm...losing half of my body weight to a healthy weight...literally didn't make the slightest bit of difference, its hellish either way.

Heard many arguments in yards!

Definitely agree with most of this. Like the washing drying quickly but that's the only positive.

The heat just feels very oppressive. Like I can't breathe properly.

Same!

The good weather doesn’t last long here and pepper are moaning

Leo800 · 12/07/2025 22:05

I’m enjoying it, but am by the coast. Swimming in the sea has been glorious. Lots of happy people about.

TreesAreLife · 12/07/2025 22:15

Only about 25 degrees where I am in England. I love the heat and wouldn’t mind a bit more. I was slightly chilly on the beach as it was windy earlier today.

CalicoPusscat · 13/07/2025 06:40

Oddly enough after a day of flopping around and splashing myself with cold water I slept quite well last night.

Well here it goes, another day of heat...off to check met office forecast.

Lovely breeze at present

Champaganesupernova · 13/07/2025 06:44

I was absolutely loving it until last night . There was absolutely no cool air and I have a loft bedroom which is usually ok as it's an old house . I eventually tried to sleep on the sofa but have woken up feeling sick . I am also really worried about my elderly mum .

CalicoPusscat · 13/07/2025 07:10

@Champagnesupernova it sounds like it was a mixture of the air being too still and emotional worries
