To think socially distanced interviews at Wimbledon seem odd

Does anybody have the faintest idea why the post match interviews still have the interviewer standing miles away from the player? It's a horrible reminder of Covid times and just seems really bizarre.

It’s not social distancing, it’s for the camera angles.

I thought I read recently there was another new variant of Covid doing the rounds which is particularly nasty. That aside, I wouldn't blame the players for not wanting to get too close to anyone. They train hard all year for these tournaments and don't want to get flu/covid/Any other virus from interviewers getting too close to them.

Oh right. I have to say I don't often watch Wimbledon as I am not really a tennis fan but I didn't think they always stood so far away in the past.

There are often horrible waves of covid going around and yes we are in yet another one now, but the reason they’re standing away is for the camera angles.

Oddly, dh and I had the same conversation a couple of hours ago when someone was being interviewed.

Never used to be any issues with camera angles.

It looks like that time after covid first struck when we were allowed out but not near anyone.
I agree with you @CarlaH - it looks so odd.

Ironically, the players hug after each match. Also, the masks, six foot distancing and the shot have all been proven to not work.
